I was in a company truck near Pueble, CO. My apprentice and I were on a dirt back road creeping along through pinon trees. Suddenly, a real life roadrunner bolts out of the bush. He veers and is running right in front of us. Neither my apprentice nor I had ever seen a roadrunner in real life. They're quite large birds.Lies. All lies.
Anyway, he says "WOW! Did you see that roadrunner??" (Of course I saw it.) Me: "Yeah, that was cool as hell! Did you see that coyote with a rocket strapped to his back and wearing roller skates chasing him??"

Roadrunners are badass apex predators,... they kill diamond backs and rattlers with ease. They like killing anything,.. lizards, birds, rodents,.. just about anything that beak can puncture. Coyotes usually don't fuck with roadrunners,.. usually.
They also own ACME mail order company.

It's a small snake,.. Roadrunner can get bigger than some huge crows. It's their beak and head thats out of proportion to their body,.. they're huge.

Every once in a while I get one checking out my pine tree for baby birds,.. they’re everywhere here in town. They make the oddest sounds,.. gurgling and purring.
Coyotes too,.. early morning you can hear them squawking and howling. Not too car smart either,.. they get pegged by cars all the time.

The one I saw I would estimate easily over two feet from tip of the beak to the tip of the tail and a foot and a half tall. Bigger than a raven.

I haven’t heard a roadrunner go “meep meep” except the Plymouth variety.
