the 5 levels of Les Paul

I liked the way he put this video together by demonstrating each guitar by playing through a cool series of arrangements. Mind you, I was listening to the video through my cheapy Samsung tv speaker and it really didn’t give me any indication of difference in sound and tone except for the...

Is it me or are Burstbuckers sounding better these days…

It’s been a few weeks, I changed out the g-force tuners for Grovers. Gives the guitar the classic look it deserves. I liked the concept and they worked very well; I saved them for history as original gear. Changed the strings to 9’s, adjusted the action etc., and now it screams that meaty gritty...

Is it me or are Burstbuckers sounding better these days…

Thanks for detailed feedback! Just what I was looking for. I may have to agree with the weight factor as I find myself naturally gravitating to those two guitars. I will do some tweaking in the next day or so and feedback my results. Thanks again! —Douglas

Is it me or are Burstbuckers sounding better these days…

I found this thread and post interesting. I do have a question for everyone about pickup height. I have 4 Les Pauls all with BB. Two are weight relieved and two are traditional. All are High Performance. I find that the traditional have more grit in the sound which I like, and the weight...

I think in 5 years , we are all going to be left holding the bag on guitars, muscle cars , harleys etc

I think all things are related to how they are marketed (what kind of buzz of interest you can generate to attract a buyer) and current market prices (based on desire to own or hold knowing you aren’t wasting your money) if a person is interested or didn’t know they were, and you piqued theirs...

Who Likes the 2017 HP Model Les Pauls - Which is your favorite and why

Hey HP fans and critics alike, I have 4 2017 HP models, one of each finish in the main HP line. I recently completed my collection with the honey burst it was the hardest one for me to find as I am particular about the tops. Anyway, this recently purchased HP is in absolute mint condition I went...

What amp do you recommend for a Les Paul?

I guess it really depends on what you feel like lugging around. And, what kind of sound you want. Start with sound and then size it down. Unless you have someone else toting your gear. Check out the Blackstar HT-5R great sound from an amp that plays large in a smaller more manageable size. It...

Do plain tops, gold tops really sound better than flame tops?

Thanks everyone! I needed some humor this morning! I would be really interested to know just how this could be measured objectively for all those gullible people out there. I have three lovely LP’s all top of the line models. All have XL Nickel 10’s and each sounds lovely. Each have own their...

What would your wife do with your Les Paul(s) if you died?

That’s funny! He tried to turn me on to guitar hero when he was young. I totally sucked at it. Today, He is well aware of what I have, but interestingly enough I (now 50) only really started playing after he was an adult, (he’s 32 now) but he knows I play, but how well hmmm. May have sit down...
