NGD - Burny P90 Gold Top

Thanks for the input. Tonight was my first steps on that tape. I was worried the model info might be on the tape though something beneath seemed just as likely. I could tell from the color it was a factory Gold Top and not a conversion, but the layer atop the paint and tape in the neck cavity...

NGD - Burny P90 Gold Top

Any thoughts or suggestions? I had the Burny Jeff Beck ‘54 model (BL85?) which was brighter than I expected, Got used to the tone (different in a good way with more note attack) so the novelty has been satisfied, which lets me look to rebuild a 54 style for the sake of it, I normally associate...

NGD - Burny P90 Gold Top

Picked up this damaged Burny Super Grade (‘54 style bridge and 1 P90 route) last year with plans to rehab. Been sitting for a bit while I work other projects, but I’m itching to work on it now. Found this thread while trying to date this model. No good clues yet unless there turns out to be...

    1980 Burny FLG-150

Might I also chime in that these appear to my eye to be solid tops (not veneer), when you inspect the cavity. The grain is clear from the top to the interior.

    1980 Burny FLG-150

Nice! I picked one very similar up last year. Great flame and condition, but no serial. Could be FLG 90 or up, but no real clincher. Thought it might be and FLG 70 or 90 based on lack of pickguard and non-Seymour Humbuckers, but the fit and finish makes me think it could be higher or a...

Fill in Burny neck tenon gaps?

Thanks, that’s very helpful! What was the clue you used on the pot codes? I have several Burnys, but wasn’t sure if the wiring was original. It didn’t look like it was modified, but the green caps seem a little unique compared to typical wiring I have seen for early 80s. My current detailed...

Fill in Burny neck tenon gaps?

@snaredrum what model is this? I have one very similar to it, which would appear to be an early 80s Burny FLG 90 or similar with a great tiger maple solid (yes solid) top. I can’t date it yet by pot code and because of the lack of a serial number or ink stamp. But the lusterof the fretboard and...

    '79 Tokai Reborn LS-120 & '81 Tokai Love Rock LS-100S

We may be playing interdimensional tag... I came across a few of your posts when I started picking up my first MIJ LPs, and these instruments have converted me. Fast forward a bit from my first Burny and Tokai acquisitions, and I am now awaiting what i think is an LS100s ('80/'81 Love Rock in...

I Was A Bad Girl Too This Morning

That custom is a total score! I've been keeping a lookout for some all-mahogany models (Tokai, Burny) and missed a few here or there. I'm expecting to like the darker tone I'd expect from a full mahogany versus my (many) maple topped MIJ LPs.

Tokai Reborn stock “X” stamp pickup,Your Opinion/comment is all i need

I just picked up a 1979 Tokai LP Reborn LS50CS. Prior owner had jacked it up a bit (pickups and controls were jumbled and bridge was on backwards, in addition to a few not-so-smart cosmetic blunders), but so far it plays very nicely. I had to pull out the neck pickup to put it back in...
