I take a lot of notes as I can't remember a thing. One of my biggest professional regrets is that I never learned shorthand. I was going to shortly after college graduation, but never did follow through. Would have made the last 40+ years quite a easier.
From what you described it sounds like we orient the pen/paper in similar fashion. I have the paper rotated about 45 degrees counter-clockwise. For the most part my hand & fingers are above the line, but not entirely.
Any of you fountain pen guys left handed? It doesn't end well.
I use Pilot G2 ultra-fine gel because it's fast drying and doesn't smear.
Long ago I tried using fountain pens but it just wasn't practical for someone who writes as much as I do.
