NGD- SG 61 Standard- pt II

Thanks. Ya I dont plan on adjusting my bridge a ton, and if I dont like the stock hardware, there's a ton of options in the aftermarket scene anyway.

NGD- SG 61 Standard- pt II

Got one of these back in Jan, but didn't quite get along with it. I returned it and decided to go with a different retailer. I found one on Wildwood Guitar's website listed with the right specs. So I decided to pick it up. Upon unboxing it, I noticed it felt considerably different than the...

NGD (My first Gibson) 2005 Les Paul Standard Faded

Happy NGD. You chose a good year. I had an '05 Standard Desert Burst (or tobacco, watev) for a minute. Covid made me let it go, otherwise I'd still have it. The neck was super flat, just the way I like it. You'll definitely notice some differences from your LTD's. Les Pauls are a specific kinda...

NGD content, not sure if its a keeper...

Coincidence you mention them. I saw one on their site that was listed as 6.37 lbs. That one has me pretty curious. Also, touche on the strings. For some reason, my mind keeps picturing them listend on Sweetwater as .09s. I must've got mixed up with a different guitar. The floor model I tried...

NGD content, not sure if its a keeper...

Yeah, I figure it's not out of the ordinary for the neck on the guitar to move, due to shifting temperatures during transit. I'm a little confused about the pu height though. Doesnt make sense why it got out of place. Maybe vibration...?

I've heard that thats a thing. Lighter SG'S dive more.I dont mind it, I only play seated anyway. I had an 07 standard that didnt dive. Never weighted it, though. Back then, it wasn't a concern

NGD content, not sure if its a keeper...

The '61 Reissue has been on my GAS list since 2014, and Ive been itching to legit scoop one up since last March. Also, this is my first NGD since December 2016, so I cant help but feel a little ceremonious about it. At last, I FINALLY did the dirty deed and pulled the trigger. Yesterday I took...

Buying from a quality online retailer?

Norm's might be a place for me to consider. I'd have the option to try before I buy.

Buying from a quality online retailer?

Good point, I didnt think of that. The upside is if a local shop has it in stock, I can drive over there and hold it in person. I'll be able to confirm if I like it, right then and there. If I get it shipped, there's a chance I might not like something about it. Then I'll have to go through...

    Chicago Music Exchange looks legit.

Buying from a quality online retailer?

The times I've decided to buy new gear online, I've had mixed experiences, as to be expected. My best experiences have been with Sweetwater. My worst ones have been with Guitar Center, big surprise. Ive decided I want to get a new SG from Sweetwater, but they're always out of stock. There's...

Gibson SG 61 Reissue, the hunt for the elusive "slim taper"

Nice guitars. Ebony SGs with the small guard are kinda rare these days. "The best Thing with the early 2000’s reissue’s is that they were all nickel hardware" So how is the hardware on guitars after that era? They still appear to be nickel from just a glance.

Gibson SG 61 Reissue, the hunt for the elusive "slim taper"

I held a Classic once. Probably the thinnest Gibson neck Ive touched. I heard that the body on RI's are also one piece. Makes me even more curious to check one out.
