    Silverburst Les Paul Custom Question

I'm not positive. I think I was advised that my first one was a Nashville build and I'm assuming the second one is as well. I can't make out the "Made in the USA" on either of them.

    Silverburst Les Paul Custom Question

I have two 79 Silverbursts which were manufactured on Apr 9 and Apr 10 of 1979. One has a bursted back to the headstock and the other is solid black. Both require a blacklight and different angles to make out the serial number because the paint filled them in. Based on this I'd say there's...

    Should I have it refinished?

I really like the guitar, my three Norlin Customs will never be sold willingly, it was more of a "kill two birds with one stone" or maybe "a bird in the hand is better than two from a cab driver", or some thing or some combination of the two or something like that anyway. As far as wanting to...

    Should I have it refinished?

Polished it up and made the necessary setup adjustments and installed a set of 9's to see how I like them. I will probably try to find an older pair of gold speed knobs but I had these laying around and they'll do in the mean time.

    Should I have it refinished?

Many thanks for all of the opinions, I’m going with the majority and not going to have it refinished. It appears to have the original electronics, is there any way to know what color(s) may lie under the pickup covers? I don’t hate them but freeing up double crèmes would be worth getting the...

    Should I have it refinished?

So I love the way my 74 sounds and plays but the appearance does nothing for me whatsoever. It's had a headstock repair so there's essentially no real collector value any longer. I've always wanted a white 74 custom and was just kicking the idea around and figured I'd get opinions. I never...

Norlin Experts: Deal or Not a Deal?

I told myself I’d never buy a LP with a headstock repair. Then I walked into a vintage guitar store, picked up my 74 and played it before looking it over. Once I’d played it and noticed the repair I changed my mind. There is zero functional difference between it and my two 79’s. They’re...

Gibson's bridge, why is it designed to be adjusted by plier but not flathead screwdriver?

I just loosen the strings and spin the wheel by hand then retune.

I'm down to three. (My GAS story) :)

That was originally a black studio that someone had wrecked the finish on so I sanded the body down and refinished it in those colors for my daughter.

The one with the tan pup rings and nickel pickup covers?

Only through photographs and memory. It's only 3 years though so not a lengthy endeavor.

I love it. Unfortunately the bridge had collapsed when I got it home but otherwise it's pretty much untouched by me. A good wipe down, Faber bridge & tail piece, new strings and a setup and it holds tune as well as any guitar I've had. Don't sound bad either, especially playing some Bad...

Just snapped several for you. In the pic of the back of the headstock you can see where the nitro glow stops abruptly indicating a repair of some variety.

Oh, sorry...the one in the middle is a 74.
