Centralab and Bumble Bee value/tone question

That's the kind of real-world experiential report that I'm looking for. Thanks!!

Centralab and Bumble Bee value/tone question

Thanks all the good feedback. The neck PU is just right (not too muddy), so instead of swapping the pickups, I'll try adjusting the poles and PU height. If that doesn't do it, I have a couple vintage magnets I can try. The pickup doesn't have a cover, so no worries about it loosing resale value.

Centralab and Bumble Bee value/tone question

Thanks, everyone. What's the difference in the effect on the tone of going with a lower ohm volume pot, verses a lower ohm tone pot? The tone improved a lot from going to vintage bumble bees, so I'm looking forward to trying the centralab pots, but as it is, I don't use the bridge pickup much...

Centralab and Bumble Bee value/tone question

Hi, I have a guitar with original PAFs and Bumblebees, and have some Centralab pots to put in. The neck PU sounds great. The bridge sounds a bit thin, and sometimes shrill , to my ears. Given that I'm hoping for a fatter, warmer bridge PU sound, what tone effect should I expect from going...

WTB: Burny or Tokai single cut

I have a 1981 Burny FLG90 that I might consider selling. It has a 1 piece back, weights 9 lbs (maybe a touch less), faber bridge, nylon nut, and new frets from Gary Brawer.

    Robbie, That's some nice playing! Here's my 81 FLG90

82 Tokai LS150 or 1958 Les Paul Custom?

Here's the Tokai. It sounded great with the old DiMarzios, but better with vintage PAFs. Zeneffect, that's the Custom that I played. Did you get a chance to play it? It's got great sustain, a great neck shape, and a fat sounding neck pickup. It's great, I just liked the Tokai better. My...

82 Tokai LS150 or 1958 Les Paul Custom?

I thought you Tokaiphiles might appreciate this. A 1958 Les Paul Custom (Black Beauty, with the 3 PAFs) came up for sale locally, at a somewhat reasonable price. I played it today. I had my 1982 Tokai LS150, with vintage PAFs, with me, for comparison. My friend and I went back and forth between...
