The neck PU is just right (not too muddy), so instead of swapping the pickups, I'll try adjusting the poles and PU height.
If that doesn't do it, I have a couple vintage magnets I can try.
The pickup doesn't have a cover, so no worries about it loosing resale value.
What's the difference in the effect on the tone of going with a lower ohm volume pot, verses a lower ohm tone pot?
The tone improved a lot from going to vintage bumble bees, so I'm looking forward to trying the centralab pots, but as it is, I don't use the bridge pickup much...
I have a guitar with original PAFs and Bumblebees, and have some Centralab pots to put in.
The neck PU sounds great. The bridge sounds a bit thin, and sometimes shrill , to my ears.
Given that I'm hoping for a fatter, warmer bridge PU sound, what tone effect should I expect from going...
Here's the Tokai. It sounded great with the old DiMarzios, but better with vintage PAFs.
Zeneffect, that's the Custom that I played. Did you get a chance to play it? It's got great sustain, a great neck shape, and a fat sounding neck pickup. It's great, I just liked the Tokai better.
