    Kalamazoo factory auction

Last year at a GC in Memphis I was told that an oddball 335 studio was such because of an "employee". According to them/him it was customary for Gibson Memphis to allow a "custom birthday or anniversary" guitar once a year. I can see that could have been a practice for a long time. In that...

    R8 2017 fretboard Quality issue

Just as a side-note regarding inlays.... I know Gibson Montana inlays are done in house. Is it possible that’s where it’s done then they are shipped to Nashville? It would explain humidity differences as well.

Sounds great, just let me know what you come up with. The frame isn’t a huge deal to me. I’d love there to be a gold “plunger” switch. But it is what it is.

I didn't see anything on stew-mac with an extra leaf. I'm happy to do the footwork if you'll point me the right way.

James, if you can find one of those switches I'll be happy to take it off your hands. If it's gold, all the better!

    1955 Les Paul Jnr Resto-Mod

Looks fantastic! I love the idea. I'm buddies with Christian and when he told me your plan I was excited...but had no idea it would look like THIS when it was done! Well done!

So it’s an actual extra pole on the bottom?! That’s a game changer.

    3 Pickup ‘57 style wiring?

All right, I’ve stared at the schematic and the layout for a 50s three pick up custom. I am no closer to figuring out what in the world I am supposed to be doing with this switch. Gibson‘s own paperwork shows six contacts on a regular three-way switch. So does that mean they are using the...

Cash Has Exchanged Hands....the 68 335 Refurb is Underway

Yeaaaaah, kinda "bleh" without. I'm still trying to decide if I should go back to the nickel/chrome mixed hardware that was factory...or do all nickel.

Cash Has Exchanged Hands....the 68 335 Refurb is Underway

I'll do it! I expect it to be an interesting picture journey. The shape is good, but the width is just too narrow for me. With so many other issues and the broken lacquer on the headstock it seemed to me the best way forward. I don't think I'd play it with the neck it currently has and I...

Cash Has Exchanged Hands....the 68 335 Refurb is Underway

Thank you very much! It was my first electric, I got it when I graduated High School. My parents put up 80% of it as a graduation gift, and I put up the rest. Dad thought I needed a LP...and he was right, but not right then!

Cash Has Exchanged Hands....the 68 335 Refurb is Underway

So in case you guys didn't see here I was considering a 68 335 to re-furb and was curious about what little info Gibson had on it. It was painted with a rattle can, over binding and all, had a phase switch installed, changed 2 pots out, and had a stop bar installed too far back. All that said...

    Looking at Buying/Restoring 1968 ES335 Shipping ledger?

Well, I struck out. Gibson said that the documents had been archived and there was no way to get a copy.
