    I really think that it could be a '70..there are many 1970's with no made in USA or volute..and that SN# range is good for 1970..the heel would tell me more as would a face on shot of headstock to ensure logo isn't doctored But that is A-OK in my book..really no difference besides the logo, and...

    Yeah..that was a funky decision for sure...I've seen ones that were nearer to flush, and ones that weren't..what are the pot codes of that one of yours? That logo is 100% a 70 feature...

    Late '65 and '66 Special would still have the small guard..into '67...and large guard version, starting in '67 had a channel thru the pickups where the small guard would not cover..as well as totally different shaped routes. My bet is late '64, maybe early '65 that neck was thinned and body...
