I get mixed opinions, regarding guitar pots, and whether it's Linear for tone and Logarithmic for volume..
What's the play here?
I'm going to re-wire my Telecaster, using 250K Mini Pots, but I can only see Logarithmic pots - would that do for the tone pot as well?
I have a Tradition SP-1 guitar, equipped with Single Coil sized Humbuckers, which are also splitable using 3 ON/ON switches.
From memory I believe the stock pots are 500K...
I've been thinking of upgrading the pots etc. and I came across this pot:
Allparts 250K/500K Concentric Pot...
I'm no expert when it comes to guitar electronics and wiring, and therefore I have a question, regarding Coil Split..
What's the reason for some guitars having the Coil split on the Tone pot, and others on the Volume pot? Any particular reason?
I appreciate your comment and opinion.
I will surely keep that in mind, in the future, and adapt!
I've done several refrets, and all has been good, but I just recently came to think of this, and thought to ask here..
The people here and the help is great - much appreciated! :)

Very much appreciated!

In regards to all this... and now I'm just browsing my mind... would it be beneficial to have the fretboard checked and adjusted straight first, with the notched straight edge, and then check the frets with the...
Of course, I can fully accept that :)
Thanks for sharing that.
But wouldn't it be hard to determine a good straight point, if the frets are uneven with each other? If that makes sense..
For example before you go to level the frets..
Thanks for the reply, @Freddy G :)
I can fully understand that, and see why that would be the way to go about it, but...
What if the frets are uneven.. Wouldn't that cause a few issues, for example before leveling?
In such situation, wouldn't that make it hard to get an...
Cheers for the reply, @LtDave32 :)
Thanks for sharing - I see many do it like that as well... Any particular reason you chose to do so?
I mean, is it all just personal preference, or is one method better than the other?
The notched straight edge vs. the straight edge.. Do you gain more from...
Happy New Year to everyone! :)
I've been working on guitars for quite some years now, and I'm always looking for new and/or better ways to improve my work and workflow, so I would like to know what you guys do, when you adjust the neck straight, before doing fretwork, etc... There are several...
Greetings & Merry Christmas :)
While re-fretting the other day, I came to think about... having sanded the fretboard (Rosewood), before installing new frets, and once the new frets are in and all is good and finished, should the fretboard be treated with anything other than some oil, etc.?
