Meant to putting was the anniversary. Did the same thing in the other forum. Don’t post in a hurry. Anyway, meant to be a tribute. At least I provided entertainment

FOUND: 1980 Gibson Les Paul Heritage 80 Elite

WIll add that I have owned mine since 1985. It was my third guitar and first Les Paul (purchased when I was 15). Is a great guitar...was a main player for quite a while until I bought a conversion a couple years later. Still played it quite a bit but the conversion was beat up a lot more so...

FOUND: 1980 Gibson Les Paul Heritage 80 Elite

I have only seen mine in person. I think there were only 50 made. One went to the biggest Gibson dealer in each state. Mine is #031. It has all gold hardware including the jack plate, cavity covers (control cavity cover is pretty heavy) and switch ring, double white bobbin Shaw pickups, and...

Awards have a different serial number. There is a small plaque on the headstock with a 3 digit number. I have one but not interested in selling it.

The Sexy Hexy Burst: 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar owned by Alex Conti of Lake, Atlantis +

I think Gibson must have been experimenting at some point. From the ones I have seen so far, I have not uncovered one that with the combination of PAFs, GT and large bore non-stepped route. Could there be one? Sure but seems fairly rare and in the absence of convincing evidence to the...

The Sexy Hexy Burst: 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar owned by Alex Conti of Lake, Atlantis +

I came into this thread late so admit I don’t know the details of each post at this point. I will also refer to the original thread on the other site and this one for the price but I think that was less of the issue than what was disclosed at the time of sale. The documentation provided at...

The Sexy Hexy Burst: 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar owned by Alex Conti of Lake, Atlantis +

To me, honestly, this is the primary issue for me connected to the original thread. The low standards of professionalism in this business is both astounding and embarrassing especially considering the amount of money involved. In my perhaps naive opinion, a novice buyer should be able to walk...

The Sexy Hexy Burst: 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar owned by Alex Conti of Lake, Atlantis +

Ok to the first point. I thought it confusing when I read it. To the second, I think the problem with the previous sale was that there was no explanation provided to the buyer concerning the issues raised in the thread and no explanation provided as to why it was most likely an original...

Werner, I don’t have the guitar for sale. You might have confused my post for one of Eric’s. In the original thread on the other forum, I was all for at least entertaining the idea this could have been a gold top. However, as Rev Willie pointed out in that thread, the toggle route isn’t...

Not sure I would spend more or less if this guitar were a proven 58 vs 59 vs even an early 60. Really Goldtop to burst is really the only major difference for this one given everything considered.

There was a lot of going back and forth so I might have missed it. Still leaves open the posssibilty of an original ‘59 Goldtop that came with white bobbin PAFs and would explain the pore filler. If there is one (59 Goldtop) there could be a second....and it could have white bobbin PAFs.

Eric, do the Pots match a ‘59 date? In the end does it probably doesn’t matter that imho. It is a 50s Original PAF guitar that has had at least 4 refinishings but likely started out as a burst. All the parts are vintage (except for the pickup rings??...can’t remember if those had been...

I think there is a single example of a ‘59 Goldtop floating around.
