It is supposedly an R9 les paul with serial no. 9 1959. It doesn't have a COA or case, but Gruhn gave an appraisal and deems it an R9. The cavity...

    Yes I actually did. The tanning bed fades the red ALOT faster than the sun. I like sitting it out in the sun, but in all honesty the tanning bed style has more advantages.

    I actually ended up selling that Marshall combo this past Wednesday. To fund the Kemper in the current pic I posted. I also have a Marshall 2525c Silver Jubilee, so that other combo was getting neglected.

    Ended up having to take 72hrs of call this weekend, so I was pretty much confined to the house. Luckily for me even though it was 4 degrees out it was sunny and I totally took advantage of it.

    Yeah, I definitely got lucky with the fingerboard on this Lester. I wish the fingerboard on my ES-335 was as dark and uniform like this.

    I thought about doing that. I'm also considering stripping the rest of the guitar and refinishing it with true old school red dye and lacquer. Even with all that UV exposure, the red on the back and sides didn't even fade.

    I didn't want a honeyburst, and I stripped it because I wanted to see what colors Gibson actually used to spray the original light burst finish that was on it.

    Nope! I take to pieces of heavy construction paper, fold them in half, and slide them under the strings to cover the fingerboard.
