Yes. Just because a tiny number of forumites claims they actually like them it doesn't mean that that is the truth in any way. People who play guitar shun them like the plague. Yeah, it failed so much that the P-90 forever after was given to the paupers who bought Gibsons budget models, because...

Oh, that's an easy one, people who buy into the bulllcrap spread on forums (mainly collectors) buy them to show the other forumites how sophisticated their retro taste is.

Oh, i am sorry you didn't understand - no of course i criticise things, sure. On a general level. But not on a personal level. You know (at least i hope you can distinguish), the difference between the generalized and sweeping statement "P-90's suck donkeys balls" and the (for the thickheaded...

You might want to try a dictionary :)

Look, you have your thing going and it is not up to me to criticise that. I like different amp+guitar sounds. I love tearing icons apart (call me an iconoclast if you must), sure, but not on a personal attack level. I still do not subscribe to the P-90 worship and think that it is good that...

P-90's still don't sound good. And i am sorry to say, neither does a cranked Hiwatt. Unless you want to make pretend that you are playing in The Who 50 years ago... Sure, Hiwatts may have been a cool sound to some in 1972 or thereabouts - but that's where the shenanigans ended and better...

How Did You Improve Your Rig/Tone in 2021?

Thinner strings, lower tunings. Thin, slack strings simply sound a lot better than thick tense ones. But don't take my word for it - try it for yourselves. And boys and girls, always remember, all the classic blues-rock guitar tones were done on guitars with thin strings, because the players...

Nah, no one actually buys guitars with P-90's - perhaps except for the cool vegan artisan bearded coffeshop crowd who try to stand out from the masses. I mean, P-90's fall completely short of giving us the glassy bite that a good set of SC's gives us, and they also fall short of giving the...

The stupid in this absurd internet myth does not get any less stupid just because of repetition. In 1955 no one even knew what an electric guitar was supposed to sound like and they just wanted a pickup that didn't hum to badly. Basically all they wanted back then, were the means to make the...

Anyone ever have a neck shaved down ?

Yeah, i can totally hear the conversation in fenders board room: "...so, how many guitars did you sell total last quarter, how much do we stockholders get?" "Well, we sold about a hundredtwentythousand mexican ones - but we held back on our greatest seller, which would have made us reach...

Looking for a good, small at home practice tube amp

Always remember: With guitar speakers 1 (one) watt of power at the speaker output gives you a dbspl from somewhere between 95 to 102 depending on speaker efficiency (usually measured at a distance of 1m / 3ft ). Please look up some charts that show everyday sounds and their corresponding dbspl...

Looking for a good, small at home practice tube amp

I use a 100W Randall RM100 with a 1960 B for home. I play this combination at around 65 - 75 dbspl. Because i live in an old apartment where sound travels exceptionally well. My amp has a Master volume, so i can make it work for me. At these levels it does just not sound like it does...

Whats your all time favorite guitar pick ? Pick as in plectrum

Thinnish and pointed but not so thin they are flexible. Small black Gibson teardrop shaped "medium" picks that were ubiquitous in the 80's are my favourite... (Not the almost triangular ones you get today...) Like these, just in "medium"...

Looks like a nice guitar. :) In the 70's your problem with the P-90's would have been solved easily, simply by routing the guitar for proper sized humbuckers. :naughty: (Usually DiMarzio Superdistortions, which back then were basically the only commonly available aftermarket pickups...) BUT...
