Happy Ending! I used the funds from the return (plus a little more on top) for a used 2019 Heritage H-137 in TV Yellow. It's a MUCH better guitar.
Here's a link to my NGD thread : NGD Heritage H-137 TV Yellow
Picked up a used 2019 Heritage H-137 in TV yellow from a fellow forum member. It is spectacular! Almost bought a used Gibson TV Yellow Special but pulled out when I saw this one listed and I'm glad I did. The color on this one is so much nicer. It has that more mellow wheat color than the US...
Unless the new buyer posts in this thread we'll never know. Looks like it's already been resold. I did just play the same model at 30th St. Guitars this afternoon and was talking to Matt about the other one. I may pick that one up next week. Also looking at a 2019 TV Yellow special. Decisions...
And of course it has been relisted in "great" condition. "Great' meaning: "This product shows little signs of use and all controls are completely functional. It may have minor surface scratches." Umm, about that... :rolleyes...
Whelp they wouldn’t work with my at all and it just left a bad taste in my mouth that it wasn’t disclosed and was listed in “great” condition
And yeah, the repair looked great, and yeah, it played great, but I just soured on the experience
Ugh. I'm torn. GC has a few others listed on their site used and all those are between $1,059 and 1,099 and listed as Excellent. Maybe they did factor it into the price? Still not a great discount though
That's my thinking. Hard to figure market value. There are only 2 others listed on Reverb right now and they're both over $1,000, but that's listing price, not what they'll actually sell for. Two years ago they were selling for much less
Whelp they were super unhelpful on the phone. Basically said it is what it is, either keep it or return it, no discount. I'll go by in person after work and do just that. Guess I'll also try one more time to talk some sense into them. I like the guitar, and would keep it, but not at almost $900 :/
I'm going to see what wiggle room I have to get some cash back. I obviously care about resale value down the road, but for now, if the repair is really a good one, I do really like the guitar. It plays and sounds great. If I don't get a good chunk back, I'm going to just return it.
