Finally called Gibson customer service and it came back verified as a reissue! The gentleman said the fact I got it in Japan checks out because it was imported by Yamano in 92.
I just bought a new 2536a cab from them a couple of weeks ago on sale for ~$490 after the yen conversion. They packed the cab very nicely. They reinforced the original Marshall box with extra cardboard on the top, bottom, and corners on the side. I do live in Japan though so I did not have to...
Those pictures are in the Imgur folder. It’s not a classic.
They didn’t always have rounded inlays. Here are a few examples. Also, what makes you say the pickups are swapped? They’re definitely not.

I think it would’ve been better if it was an R9 and not an R6 (R0), but i got it at a pretty damn good price regardless IMO. I finally plugged it into my Marshall 2525C with matching cab and it sounds awesome! Plays very nicely too. This is my first time playing with a 60s neck and I think I...
That is correct. I perused the forums for a ton of knowledge after I picked up the guitar. All guitars dated 92 and earlier are not in the “historic” line, but were still called reissues, which were made alongside the normal line of Les Pauls since the historic line and custom shop weren’t...
update: I went back to the store and bought it. Took it home to find out it had R6 written in red magic marker/ink (for 1960 reissue before they called it the R0). What else is crazy is the color was HDSB (historic dark sunburst). It has since faded to this beautiful honey burst / unburst finish.

This isn’t an eBay deal but I wasn’t sure where else to post this Reverb ad.

One thing I forgot to mention: the selector switch’s plastic knob wasn’t with the guitar. I called Curt and without any hassle or hestitation, he sent me a new one along with a Gibson and a HoG shirt. HoG and Curt has given me the best customer service I’ve ever received from any store. I highly...
Upfront, sorry to everyone that this post has been a bit delayed. I received the guitar almost two weeks ago but have been filling the little free time I have with playing this beaut!
After seeing all of the beautiful posts of the R8 and R9s, I’ve been lusting for one ever since I received my...
