  • Dear Asapmaz Al, I wanted to reach out as I’ve just purchased your TM 57 Goldtop and would really like to know some more history about it. It’s such a lovely guitar and has made its way to London.
    Hey asapmaz,
I’m looking for a 1950’s switch tip for my 1950’s Les Paul. Any leads? Thanks.

They are unfortunately really hard to come by and are quite expensive when you do find one.
I would simply get the catalin ones from Mark's Guitar Loft for $40 and be done with it. Noone will ever know the difference since they're made out of real catalin.

I get it… just trying to make my guitar whole again. It’s literally the only missing part.
    '57 Goldtop
Hello, I recently ran into a 1986 '57 Goldtop - I am in love. Unfortunately my budget is more in line with a recent Traditional.
Do you still have the Goldtop?

You mean the 1987 prehistoric Goldtop?
I sold that one quite a while ago.

Why did ya sell it. Find something you liked more? Why did you like it more?
I am obsessing over an over priced 1986 gold top prehistoric in a local shop. Feels so much better than the Traditionals I have tried and better than the Standard 50s and 60s I tried. Maybe it was setup???
Anyway, I really appreciate your input.
    thanks,
    Michael

    It was a great guitar.
My decision to sell had nothing to do with the guitar itself. In fact, I believe prehistorics are generally better guitars and seem to have received more attention than the modern historics, even though not as accurate historically feature-wise. If you can splurge and get that prehistoric, you should jump on it.
I only sold mine because I’ve been making to move to vintage guitars.
