    need help finding rare gibson

I know I'm bumping an old thread. This isn't for sale, but I guess if the price is right... So, just curious -- how much were you looking to spend?

    Gotcha. Thanks.

Duh. But I always thought there was no uniform system for serial numbers prior to the mid to late 70s. Nice guitar either way. If it's real, it's in incredible shape for a 55 year old guitar.

Oh, I just assumed he was trying to rip off an unsuspecting buyer. Carry on. The serial number is the same as the serial numbers the custom shop uses. Did they use the same format back in 1957?

I'm Ignorant. Is this considered an R0?

Thanks for all the helpful responses. Now, I just have to get the guitar.

So this is a reissue, right?

I have no idea. The specs say "Gibson’s traditional ’50s rounded neck profile." But I also read somewhere that Gibson didn't even offer a single cut Special in 1960 -- only the double cut. So, yeah, I don't think it's a historically accurate reissue.

Thanks. I covet this guitar, and I needed to know what to call it when I brag to people after I finally get it.

Sorry for being stupid, but I'm curious. Is the Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Special VOS considered an R0? Reason I ask is because, (1) it's a Special, and (2) from what I understand, it's not really an accurate reproduction of the 1960 special to begin with. Thoughts? Gibson.com...

    Any Thoughts On Nighthawks?

Well, it took a year and the quality is crap (iphone) but I've got pics!

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. They were taken on my iphone.

Thanks. I'll check out that auction. I do have an original gibson hardshell case, which I picked up separately a few years ago.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any idea what the value of a Sequoia Red Nighthawk from the Landmark Series would be today? That has been my main guitar since I bought it used about 11 years ago for $400. I had always wanted a Gibson, and that was the only one I could afford at the time...
