With me there are 3 things that will get me to pick a guitar. Payability 1) Appearance 2)Payability 3)Sound. The appearance will catch my eye, the neck will make it or break it and then if it sings to me it's mine and out the door it goes. There are times though that GAS has interrupted this process. The TradProII was my first Gibson when I got back into playing. The cost was the main reason I got it. Then yanked everything out. The ES-LP hit all 3 esp with the unique sound. The SG Special faded's purpose is to be the learning guitar for my grandson when he gets bigger and is still interested. The R9 hit the ball out the park.

Now for the turn downs. When I got the ES, I was actually at the store to look at a R8. Checklist 1 nice sunburst, 2 Neck was a baseball bat, a no-go for me, 3 #2 killed it. Then seen a traditional, 1 passed, 2 passed, 3 sounded just like the TradProII. Then there was a Supreme in there too and it was like the R8, too fat of a neck.

So basically, you have to get the thing in your hands and see if it sings to you.

So his current #1 is a Profile (have one myself first guitar) and is taking the step up to a 59 Les Paul. Wish I did that.

I can just tell everyone here is jealous :D

It doesn't impress young Alvin/Nathan. He felt my first amp should have been at least a Marshall stack, and of course by now I too should have a pair of 1968 Plexis. Oh, and I'm not on any world tours either like he is about to embark on.

Rufftuff was about to be signed too, IIRC..:hmm:

Even if I we're to give a serious answer to Alvin about "Which Les Paul" I would have to admit I couldn't decide or not even consider other choices. Like these.
