Great result. The people have voted to take the cuffs off the megalomaniacs.
The sooner we return to the 1930's and have to suck an aristocrats cock for a shilling a day the better..

Great... tens of thousands of my 401k dollars... gone.

Thank you "Leave" voters. I lost a years' worth of earnings in my retirement account today. Isolationism is no longer possible. Everything we do is intertwined with the rest of the world.

We won't forget this. Hope we can return the favo(u)r.

In 1776 I would have been glad to stick a middle finger to (the country I was born) Britain, for its meddling in the new world - and fast forward 240 years to 2016, my wife and I were pleased to vote 'out' to the EU.

As human beings, I am really passionate about the idea that as individuals we can every day make positive changes to the world. That can be anything from a kind word, to helping out financially, but the important over riding message for me, is we can do this ourselves from out of our own free individual compassion...

We don't need to be bossed into doing this!

Damn! My daughter and her fiance have just gone over to France this morning to stock up on stuff for their wedding.. It's a pity they couldn't have rescheduled the referendum for Monday as I asked her to get me a big slab of Franche Comte cheese....:laugh2:

Phil, the pound ended down on the dollar but up on the Euro:thumb:

Great Gooner, this obviously means I'll get more cheese for my lonely pound.. :laugh2:
Have you ever tried Franche Comte? Delicious if you like the nutty texture of Gruyere.

My Swiss relatives are fascinated as to what's been going on and emails between Sylvia and my cousin have been flowing all day.

It'll all stabilize soon Nicky and the pound even rallied slightly tonight. I suppose it's all according to when you are thinking of claiming it.
Best of luck though and I hope it all gets back to normal soon.

The markets are in the process of returning to normal, they ended 3.5% down with sterling up on the euro and down on the dollar. The reason the markets went crazy is because they were all betting on a remain vote. So blame the traders and have some respect for people that have made a democratic decision to leave a corrupted organisation that you people wouldn't consider giving the steam off your p1ss.

Edit. Now the papers are saying that the markets ended 2.7% down.

I had to deal with it a lot when I worked on a resort in Mexico. I will say this, your compatriots are amongst the world's best at complaining :laugh2:

I wouldn't disagree in the slightest. The chances of me going on holiday to one of those resorts with some of my lager swilling fellow countrymen is about as likely as me booking a guided holiday tour of Pyongyang..:laugh2:

According to the papers, Swedish premiere asked for smooth exit and trade negotiations and trade organisations in France and Germany have requested they be tariff free, so a good indication of how it's likely to proceed.

Personally I prefer the creamyness of Dutch cheeses!

Considering almost 50% of the UK's exports go to EU countries this could end up bad if the trade agreements for leaving in the next 2 years don't go well.

Where do you get that statistic from?

One thing I think we can be extremely proud of in this forum is that not one person in here who voted out has gloated or been rude to others . (Yet).....:laugh2:

Good signs then.

One could equally say the same thing about a certain cadre of US people when they royally f*cked up the Fanny Mae & whatever else in the financial markets on your side of the pond, plunging not only the US into financial depression but the UK economy as well.

How about the USA being told what to do by Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil, etc..? That is akin to what has been happening to the UK in the European Union.
In case you don't know, here's two examples of how we were screwed over:
1. Ford was given an EU loan (of £80 million, I believe) to move the Transit facility in the UK to Turkey, a non-EU country. Wonderful!
2. When the Port Talbot Steelworks in Wales recently had financial problems (the owners are Indian), we were told that the Government could only provide assistance if the EU decided it could. If the EU said no to our Government providing assistance, then nothing coulds be done.

Glass houses,

Stones...
