What has he done? He has quite a bit of positive feedback. Makes me worried about other sellers.

Well, Sometimes you go check feed back reports and find many times that all of a sudden guys who gave em feedback reports no longer have Ebay accounts, Some of these guys pull elaborate scams within scams, I trust Holy to be and he is a straight shooter, I earlier said I had no screwovers, I do remember one but I never had sent or lost money, a guy listed a guitar for a friend, to have the friend sell it, and not tell the lister right away, I had" Won the Guitar " but then find theres no guitar to win anymore , I told the seller I could take em to court over this. I gave em a neutral report with negative comments and moved on, One thing, if you see " listed for a friend" or listed locally, Unless your gonna do a buy it now, Dont bid a rule I developed for myself

Don,
This Clown Doug from Salina Beach Ca
has been running scams on many musicians for years !
Even the OFP dread him. I'm sure they'll speak up.

His Items are generally less than described .:naughty:
He gets run off ebay and manages to always find away back on
with a new name. We ran him off here .

He has a strange belief in a George Orwell type of world in one of his books ' Nineteen Eighty-Four. "
It's too twisted for many to even understand.
I'm not sure he even understands it.

Ol Doug called out someone from the OFP.
The gentleman showed up at Doug's door ( 6'4" ) I believe and
Doug left a load in his pants.

whoa...1984 was meant as a warning, somethin's wrong with that cat!!:wtf:

When I was 22 there was a guy like this around my town who ran his mouth all the time and was always out to screw people over and steal from you if he could. So, one night I had a little run in with this guy at the local watering hole and it started with the name calling then ended up with me kicking the ever living dog crap out of him...bad. Well he went to the ER and I went to the county jail.

When the whole deal shook down he got a broken nose,a few stitches in the face and I ended up with a few misdemeanor assault charges a $4500 restitution and 20 day vacation in the county clink. Thankfully no felonies stuck.

So, here it is 11+ years later and I was in the hardware store a few days ago and low and behold there is Bud. He saw me and did one of those double takes and went pail, he left his full shopping cart in the middle of the isle and hot footed out the store like his ass was on fire.

The moral to the story is violence is not the key and not worth the trouble that you will endure for it, but on the other hand a good old fashion ass kicking does go a long way. 11+ years to be exact. Maybe this guy needs one and that's just what it would take to put him back into check.

Spic Dude, The key is, Finding a proper time and place . If theres gonna be any witness's make sure they are 100% solid in your corner Thats just common CYA, In the Navy, had a guy aboard ship, a Ships services guy who bounced between running the ships store to doing laundry when he screwed up , which was often, Well he picked a fight with my shortest Gunners Mate, Tony Broke his nose in a scuffle as well as gave em a whole lotta bruising , Normally a charge of fighting can get you a months trip in the brig, along with a bust, two months fine, well Tony got off with 2 weeks restriction and extra duty, and a word from the CO, Next time take the stuff off base, where the CO couldnt do squat about it

I hear ya Don, it was not the time or place to do what I did, but the situation got big and out of hand real quick. It was one of those things that the buck was gonna stop there and I was going to make sure of it. I tell ya seeing his face all these years later and still striking fear in his eyes made it all worth it.

Hi!

I am the french guy... I am trying to understand how the forum works, and I hope to get some advices.

July 10th, I bought, for $3200, a 69 ES-335 to Doug Roehr.
I sent the payment via bank to bank transfer.
Since then I was overcome by doubt as his explanations were incoherent about shipping services and prices. I asked a copy of the shipping document, he never send it... and the guitar never arrived.

On October 6, 2007, he re-listed the guitar on eBay.
On Oct 12, 2007, he listed the guitar in sandiego.craigslist.org
On Oct 31, 2007, he listed a case on eBay where we can clearly see the guitar.

I diplomatically tried to convince him that I have dozens of documents, screenshots that prove that he never sent the guitar.
From this time I only got coarse language and anti-Semitic ravings (although I am not Jew)

I think the only solution is to go to small claims court not easy from France,
I will probably have to take some days to go to California.

Any ideas?

Many thanks to the cool guys who are currently trying to help me: Dennis, Jim, Lanny…

If you used your credit card to pay - call them. File a petition with Ebay, and make him prove that he sent it. If you used paypal, file a petition with them. You may not get your money back but you might be able to at least wound him.

IF you are able to come to CA to file, See about a Pro Bono Attorney, and See if the Attorney will get the court to order summons to both Ebay, your credit card company if you used one, as well as the seller and every piece of supporting documents and evidence This should be reported as net fraud, Hell I would call the FBI as well, If the guitar was over 1,000 Could possibly be a felony

I am the guy that got riped off by Doug Roehr AKA the emperor23, 5_star_guitars, the_guitars_of_godzilla

I filed a complaint to www.ic3 (FBI sponsored), here is the answer I got:

I have reviewed your IC3 complaint dated October 24, 2007. After reviewing the facts of your case and consulting with the lead prosecutor in this office, we have determined that this case falls outside of the parameters of the cases accepted for investigation by the CATCH Team. This may be due to a number of factors, including but not limited to the dollar loss amount, the area of likely jurisdiction, the distance of the victim/witness from the area of prosecution, etc. I would suggest you consider consulting legal counsel for advice on how to pursue this matter via the civil arena.

---> I think I must file a complaint to small claims court :-(
Not so easy from France.

Several "motorcycle enthusiast clubs" offer debt collection for a 50/50 split. The fun part is that for you 50% loss, you know that the scammer gets to eat with a straw for months afterwards.

That could be an excellent movie with this funny ending as the moral of the story. That would probably be the best lesson for him !!!

I checked out one of this guy's auctions. supposedly a 58 les paul junior or special or a combo of the both, I dont know. Anyway, I copied and pasted these psycho babbling s that he actually had in the auction details. :wtf:
58 VINTAGE GIBSON LES PAUL SPECIAL JUNIOR CUSTOM GUITAR - (eBay item 230200798995 end time Dec-16-07 22:34:00 PST)
This was just the first manifesto, there is actually another paragraph afterthis one in the payment and shipping details I believe.

This is an auction. In an auction you are supposed to bid, not watch. If the bidding is not high enough to warrant a sale by the 12 hour left ,ark, the auction will be cancelled due to lack of interest. Moreover, if bidding gets high enough(if you would bid rather than sit on your laurels), then the auction will be stopped with the high bidder as winner. You see, if everyone and their dog has bid sniping software, then no one has an advantage to have it. Instead, bid you best shot. May the best shot win. You lowball cheapo flounders can crawl back into the sea, or back under your rock you crawled out from. perhaps if explained like this.....If you all had a Mercedes, would a Mercedes still be your beloved status symbol, or just a stupid car? Bid snipeware only gives sellers heart attacks. It doesn't give you ANY advantage as touted by the sellers of that software. You think I will sit here on the last day with bidding at 600 bucks, or similar? No way. Auction will be stopped and you all lose. In conclusion, bid if you are interested. Otherwise go find a 50's Gibson at a one dollar garage sale to get your "perceived bargain". It won't happen here. I don't HAVE to sell anything. I am merely attempting to put great guitars in the hands of muisicians to better our world. Music will be our last refuge against the machine. Musicians need the best weapons made to combat the Beigelanders, for the Beigelanders control the banks, money printing, and credit agencies. When Ebay started people used to bid, and outbid each other. It used to be fun. Now the bay is 90% sucker fish and bottom feeding flounders. Pollution? Global warming? Anyway, as they say in the French Foreign Legion....."MARCH, OR DIE!", cuz if you don't bid....no one will win it.

So in other words, the guy is openly showing hes a crook.

Read this Q&A from the same sale

Q: Hello from London! I'm (currently) high bidder on this - but even if I don't win it, I like your style! Sadly, you seem to have exported all the austere, humorless Americans (Hedge funds, lawyers etc) to live over here... Regards Shaun Dec-13-07
A: In my town I am like Fort Apache, completely surrounded by Beigelanders that do not have the foggiest idea of what the word work means. They own the banks, credit agencies, and money printing. They took our country apart from the inside utilizing our own laws to protect them as they bribe and extort anyone and everyone. The world is being destroyed by these same souless whatever they are. They are NOT human beings. Agents of the machines?

what a werid dude, if he is into Anarchy, why doesnt he rage against the machine
instead of stealing from Musicians?
No telling what this poor guy will end up with, i just read 4 negatives against him
with the old "Buy and switch"
Why eBay is letting him keep his sellers account i have no idea, i have seen people
loose thiers for less
