Not that this can compete with a video, but here are some more boring pics

Time to do the headstock veneer.

I have rough cut a 1/8ths inch piece of veneer.

From the bottom side, I trace the headstock outline, then cut it on the scroll saw. The nut is just there for reference.

Now with a block of maple and 2 clamps, I glue it in place. The maple is a thick chunk, so 2 clamps gives a very good, even clamping pressure.

Once that is all glued up I just cut the excess of with a surgical knife (exacto)

Here is the fun part. With the blade, I cut out the truss rod access, that and a bit of sanding, and it reappears.

From the backside of the headstock, I poke holes and then drill out for the tuners with a brad point.

Wow, I had no idea this thread was even here. I actually read all 14 pages, and from one guy who loves to work with wood to another, excellent work sir.

Thank you for taking the time to document the build.

Yes I have. This pickup was a nightmare of an idea that some thought was impossible to do and at one time I was thinking the same. A single bobbin P-90 with a boost built within. It's a nice smooth boost, not a major drastic change. I like it but it was a pain to design and achieve. Here's another little snip it where you can hear how smooth the boost is.

Thanks man. That purple cheap o' monster has made some cry before. Just think, I bought that for my daughter and it was too big for her so it became a shop tester. I use that for those crazy different pickups ideas I get. It has a bunch of wholes drilled in her but she can kick when needed.

Will my friend.......your frickin' amazing.......
Ah, Thanks Mark! It's ok to have man love between friends.. I think....
I know, I know.......that's what Laura says too.
Yeah right, she still hits me upside my head daily...
