Played a couple songs last night, and I'm getting some noticeable audio lag. I hear the guitar itself, then a split second later, it comes through the TV. I've got the Xbox hooked to the TV using component cables. Any idea how to fix this?

Wait - you're missing some info. Component cables carry video only. How is your audio hooked up?

Do yourself a favor if you're not already and use all 3 RCA, video (yellow) and the audio (white and red).

That would be my exact hookup. If still no cigar then try a different TV and that will tell you if the signal processing lag is the TV or the XBOX.

I got it as a gift last night and I noticed the same thing on my PS3 using HDMI.

its milliseconds, but i noticed it. my friends did not notice it.

the parts i played, seemed interesting. i think the game is actually fun as well.

it has shown me one thing....I am a terrible sight reader. I'd have done a better job on the first song if i read the tab and then played it using the notes as a beat count only.

I picked this up yesterday after reading the thread and a few other reviews. I'm only a couple of levels in (played the Rolling Stones and Black Keys songs, did a gig, and unlocked QOTSA and the Red Hot Chili Peppers), but it's a lot of fun.

I've got an original gen Xbox 360 (so no HDMI), and I'm getting some noticeable latency. It's easy enough to work around, but it is a bit jarring.

An X on the note to play means to mute it right away. A regular note means let it ring for a short moment. A long string behind it means let it sustain throughout the strings length.

Thanks! That should help me!

I did not pick the game yet... the reason is simple: NOT sure which version to get...

I have both PS3 and Xbox 360S (newer version)...

both are connected to my DLP tv via HDMI... no home theater sound system... I am getting worry about the claimed lag, so I do not know if either system would be the same or if one would be better than the other...

I know I could buy (although I don't want to) the analog RCA cables, but COME ON! I bought and HDTV so I could watch tv and play games in HDTV, no go backwards in time!

Any cheaper solution available? I do have a nice computer audio system that uses RCA inputs, are the adaptors for sound cheap? cheaper for xbox or ps3?

Thanks!

Disclaimer - don't have the game yet, and I own a PS3 and not Xbox 360.

I see a couple of possible options for you,

1. Try it with your current setup. I've read that some people don't have bad lag with HDMI.

2. I know the PS3 can ouptut video via HDMI and audio via the RCA cable. So when playing this game, maybe you could switch the audio output to RCA, which you could hook up to your computer audio system?

The PS3 can also be set to output audio through HDMI and RCA simultaneously (RCA would just get stereo output, HDMI gets Dolby yada yada ...), so you would just need to mute your TV so you don't hear the lag. Then on other games, you'd just leave the computer system off, and listen to audio through your HDTV.

Regardless you might need to make a bit of a leap and just buy the game, then play around with the components you have. Good luck!

Im not worried about the lag. I would guess there is a lot of other factors involved besides just hdmi. I have a pretty good av controller/receiver which has always limited any lag and has adjustments for just this sort of thing. I wouldnt worry about it until you play it then break out the analog

If you're having latency issues:

Try using head phones out of the system. Friend said he had no RCA's and had lag, and the headphones fixed it for now.

Obviously it's not ideal, but that should be settling to those worried.

You may be onto to something here. I have the Turtle Beach headset, and I think the red and white audio cables go through some kind of jumper to send audio to the transmitter. That might be causing my audio lag. Hmmmm...

Awesome vid!

Okay guys - haven't played the game yet, but here's a concern that maybe some of you could reply to.

It looked like for the verses, the game has you playing on just one string at a time, probably to simplify things for beginners so that they don't have to switch strings.

Just googled Slither tab, and found this:

Pre-verse, Verse (PM)
|--------------------------------
|--------------------------------
|----------------5---------------
|-----5---5-6--5---5-7---5-----5-
|-5-8---5--------------8---5-8---
|--------------------------------

Guitar 2 (pre-verse)
|-----------------8----------------
|------7------8-9---8-10----8------
|-7-10---7-10------------10---7-10-
|----------------------------------
|----------------------------------
|----------------------------------

So is the game teaching you a bad way to learn a new song (by only staying on one string)?

I assume that since it's just "listening" for the correct note, you could play the note the game wants on another string, but visually I think this would be confusing. I will probably be a player who will find a song on the game, then pull the tab up on my laptop so I can compare both lol.

[I just pulled the first tab above that I found, so maybe playing everything on one string is the more correct way, but in my playing experience I kinda doubt it.]

Thanks!!
Slither is in Drop d and its power chords going up
E ]-0-3-4-0-6-7-0-10-0-6-7-0-5-0-3-4---
A ]-0-3-4-0-6-7-0-10-0-6-7-0-5-0-3-4---
D ]-0-3-4-0-6-7-0-10-0-6-7-0-5-0-3-4---

then it changes a little and you play it on the D string

D ]-0-3-4-0-6-7-0-10-0-6-7-0-5-0-3-4---

That's the main parts:thumb:

Just don't run the audio signal through your PC audio interface (into the speakers themselves should be fine). The last thing you want to do to cure latency is put a computer in-line.

I wish the PC would have been released.
