I really like the way that GT looks with the Bigsby! It gives it a really cool vintage vibe! :thumb:

Man that's hot. I prefer the black one with the black pick guard. Did you swap yours? Thought they were white/cream on the 50's/60's.

yep... i swap the pup's covers, the poker chip and the PG from cream to black... now i have put the right P-90 PG on it... but i hate those speedknobs... i have to change that too...

Curious if you'll go so far as to change out the input jack.

And, if you don't mind my asking, what to you figure you've got into this blackout project?

because i wanted to keep something "original" :)

it may sound ridiculous but i'm a big fan of the '54 custom :p

I just got GT today! I will post pics after work.
It's a sweet guitar but the only thing is it doesn't have the see thru control covers.
Anyone else have the non transparent control covers?

Some of the later 50s shipped w/o the smoked plexi covers, and they stopped the f aux wire brush scratches.

Yeah I really like the finish on the 60's Trib's better than the 50's Trib's

That's a pretty guitar. I've seen pictures of a lot of cherry sunbursts and some, unlike your, have that vertical line in the middle, is that just random or what?

Seeing that these have multiple piece backs and tops ranging from plain to flame like (on the Honey and Cherry Bursts), I would say that Gibson is using whatever pieces of wood they have on hand to build these. So yeah, I would say it's random or luck of the draw.

If you look closely, that's also a two piece top. It's just very well matched. :applause:

Played the 60 Tribute through a Fender amp last weekend at the store... great tone in those P90 pickups!! Am trying to scrape up enough $$ to pickup one of these babies as I'm sick of being Les Paul-less (sold my last Les Paul over a year ago and really miss having a LP in the family). Still really want to get an R0 but the 60 Tribute is much more budget friendly given my current financial situation. If I get her I'll post pics soon!

two piece top - although it doesn't seem as noticeable to me as some of the other cherry bursts.
two-piece back and three piece headstock.

and obviously, no it did not come with a binding...it is car pinstriping to give it the illusion of a binding. others may think that is dumb, but i like it. ;)
