I've got a '95 epi LP.
its got the knobs angled a bit off, and the gibson truss-rod cover as well.

Did you read the first post? I think it make it quite clear, this only applies to Chinese made Epiphones...

Good news all!

I finally got my refund from PayPal today for my fake Epiphone. I guess poor Darryl - aka Streetrodderdude will be upset he's not getting another guitar back lol. My little niece here in Canada wants to start learning guitar, the fakey will fit the bill perfectly for her. So all around winners......err except for Darryl.......poor Darryl.

I've received 4 replies so far from other buyers who bought fakes on Ebay - they seem very grateful to be informed, hopefully they will all also get refunds. I've directed them all to Gibson and this website for verification.

The logo doesnt comes out good on the photo but it looks pretty legit here !

heyy i ran across a guy on craigslist with a epiphone les paul.. everything seamed ligit till i got some pics.. he is the second owner. i told him i believed it was fake but wanted to get a second opinion. i read this thread often and joined to get answers...

the serial number he gave me was 16080543
i asked for the letters and he said the 1 could possibly be an I
well i checked guitardaterproject.org and they show the guitar being made in August or 2016? check the pics out and let me know what you think

Also the cutaway looks to pointy

he said he got it from a guy for $225 and doesnt know much about guitars!

what about the serial number though?

and if it is real what would be the Model? not sure its a plus top bc the flame goes from bottom to the top where a plus fades out as it goes up the top? if im not mistaken

Hi everyone,
I have a little money to spend and I've been wanting to get a Black Beauty for years now. I've checked online stores and most of them offer the Black Beauty for over $700. Yet I found one website that is selling Black Beauties for only $419.99, quite a big discount.

Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty Ebony Electric Guitar

Granted, it's a "bargain" website so the price being lower isn't too alarming, what's alarming is the big difference in prices. Do you guys think the site is selling authentic Epiphone Black Beauties or does it look like a fake? One thing that's strange is that the knobs are black on this model, yet I've seen other sites selling the same guitar with gold knobs. So what's the standard knob type for this guitar? And, is the fact that it has black knobs a red flag?
