So this arrived in the mail for me today.

Honestly, I have to say, amazing.

I own a BoR and the boost although similar, are still different.

With my setup, I think this is absolutely the perfect boost. I've seen this pedal described as "pulling the muffling blanket off your tone", I couldnt agree more. The SHO definitely has that sparkle sound I was looking for. I am mainly going to be using this as a boost, but it does make for a solid OD as well. The SHO gives a great amount of gain, but might not be in the overdrive tone everyone is looking for.

I was really set on the EP booster, but after listening to the demos and playing with the pedal, I had to get the SHO.

Plus, I think there is something great about having a hand painted ape on your pedal holding a guitar. :thumb:

+1 for the SHO. I built a clone but the artwork alone is reason enough to buy it from Zvex. It's a fantastic circuit and sounds great pushing my Class 5 and my JCM900. Crackle, ok!

I had one years ago, kinda wish I still did. It's just one of those "make everything sound better" pedals. Amazing in front of a tweed amp. Love it at the back end of a pedal chain, would like to spend more time with one in front of an overdrive.

    Congrats!
Story goes that this is a famous PA pre-amp in box.

Anybody who might know which one?

    BTW
The EP-booster also has a certain kind of magic too it.
I've build an EP-Booster. Very nice pedal and an easy & compact build.

It's based on a 60's recording console, perhaps a Neve...
