I placed the pickup in the neck of a '75ish LP Deluxe with a Zhang Brownbucker in the bridge.I was playing straight into a Fender Yale Reverb (solid state),and I tried to set the drive low so I had to dig in---I think you can hear the character of a pickup better that way.
The first two solos are the rewind, the 3rd is a combination...at 1:35,it's the Brownbucker alone, then the Gibson to finish out. Please excuse the playing, just nowhere to go!
This is a GREAT rewind---David redid a dead coil of an early stickered (non t-top) Gibby bucker. And the Brownbucker..well,I'll let it speak for itself.

Special thanks to Mats Nermark for the great backing--he's the best.

Nicely done! There's a nice bite to both those pickups.

Nice touch too. I'll just go and plunder your lick library now. :thumb: :naughty:

Man, that sounds great. David has mad skills, and he's really lucky to have someone doing clips of this quality to represent his work. I have several of his pickups, and I can hear his work's personality in your clips. Great job to both of yas!!

Well, thanks guys....I appreciate the kind words.I was just pasting together takes,as usual.
This rewind does show David's approach to sound and originality--he could have "Zhangliqunized" this old pup,but he wound it like it was supposed to be.Very few people can rebuild and restore an old pickup without changing the original design.
    It's not a Woodbucker,just a smooth sounding pickup.

Dude, I wish I lived down there...I'd be taking lessons from you. :D

Great playing...no--fantastic playing. Zhang's are awesome pickups.

    I played my Zhang-equipped R9 at church today...a pleasure. :D

You already have that weapon cased out!! Love the warmth of the soft picking then clears up with some grit in there as you dig in. Well played refin :thumb:
