far right is my first choice out of that bunch, middle would be the second choice,

I like very wavy or very ornate grain with res... or solid dark, purplish chocolate......naw....I ain't pickey

OK, first of all what actually constitutes a "best board"? :squint:

I mean the color & the grain doesn't make it better or worse.............this stupid preoccupation with Black Boards is just freaking mind numbing & ecologically unsound. This is the thinking that has led to a lot of Lumber being wasted because it is not "perfect"............like all the not quite Black Ebony lying on the Forest floor.

One of the grandest things about BRW are the colors & the grain patterns from different pieces. :wow:

    Change your thinking fellas.

Also, surely we are not assuming that WW & CME are using exactly the same Camera & Lighting, are we??

    :cheers2:

I can't imagine those few boards are everything such a big company can offer. I would still be asking for other Braz. boards. Even though the grain on the middle one is beautiful looking, personally, I would still go with a consistent dark as possible board, because it is the most vintage looking to me. For example, just like the Braz. board for my '59 replica:

I prefer the top set of pics. Dark not dark I don' care. But has to be nice looking but most important has to be functional

I prefer even and dense board over color and grain.

It breaks my heart having to choose from these.

I completely agree with Rudi. Actually, I'm really liking that CME board (top left one) compared to the WW boards.
It looks a lot like the board on a vintage piece I use to own that had braz.
My old 03 braz R7 was dark like the WW boards and let me tell you... that guitar was a tone turd. I couldn't sell it fast enough.

I know that's not usually the norm, I'm just saying....

You're all forgetting a big point ,imo . They way a board shows in pics has much to do about what you see .
Some boards I have (IRW) can look black as night depending on the light angle (and type sometimes).
Natural Sun light also has different colors at different times of the day ....

Using flash to take pics , IMO , doesn't show what "normal" looks like . It lightens/Highlights up the board and shows every little detail that ,imo you don't normally see .
And then there's the Camera and the effect it inputs to the pics you take .... :hmm:

    Ok, Matt, more importantly...

...for you to even get this far in your M2M pursuit, I’m sure you had to have picked out an absolutely killer piece of maple for the top wood. Show us the wood, dammit!!!

    :naughty:

+1. I've owned a few 2003 RIs with Brazilian... but I had a particular 2003 R7 GT that was no bueno. Really thin, bright, shrill tone... total opposite of what you expect from a good LP. Tried different pups, pots, etc. Dumped it quick too... for a nice profit though.

This only reinforces the age old argument that all Guitars are different regardless of who made them & what they are made from.

Many of us have had Historics that were great & others that "plays like butta" that we needed to shift.........quick.

They're all different, BRW or no BRW.

    :cheers2:

If I had the choice....that is.....choosing your dream 10k guitar is rather personal.....If I had the cash to throw at an MTM with braz ....I would most definitely be very choosy....

Of course this is all based on looks alone.....you have NO idea what it will sound/feel like.....ask me how I know this....I was a little disappointed in the last one Gibson built for me....(No fault of theirs) it was just me being picky.
