I am talking with the HOG about ordering a M2M Brazilian Board 59. Gibson has the following figured Brazilian Boards currently available. Please share your thoughts on which one you like best? Thanks!

    Honest opinion ?

None of them. I'd prefer a more regular grain or a uniform colour. Especially for that kind of money.

If I absolutely had to choose, I'd take the middle one.

    Just my 0,02€

For me, it needs to be nearly jet black throughout. That eliminates all of those. Also, I would want one that was the smoothest, with the fewest pores. Can't tell smooth / pores from those photos. If someone forced me to buy, I would get one of the two on the far left - based on color alone.

My guess is that there are much better, smooth, dark boards that Gibson is holding back for special runs. Yet they want to charge you the same price for a one off M2M. Forget that! For the money they are charging you, I think you should get to choose from the best. Clearly, those are not the best.

I would much prefer a dense and clean IRW than these. For me, none of those would work.

They get considerably darker the more they are played. I'd take the middle one, it's gorgeous.

2ed in from the left. As the wood isn't finished it very hard to get perspective of the finished product.

I also think that is the best one.

Frankly with all the money you’re slapping down on new Gibson Guitars this year TG, pony up, buy a plane ticket & pay Gibson a visit to pick your Woods.

    Can’t hurt to ask.

    Good luck. :)

None. Get a replica if you're spending that much.

If it were me and I "had to Have 1 of them" and couldn't wait , I'd also go with the 1 in the middle .
Why ? Because , it is possible that 1 will Darken up with time and usage ....It's Possible .

The issue I see (in your pic) is that the bottom end has a piece missing(looks like that or it's discolored and normally be considered a 2nd.) ..So It may not be possible to even use without knowing the full length or what that is .
If that's the best that Gibson has ,,,I'd pass and get IRW . Problem with that , since I talked with Curt last week about a M2M ...
    I was told Gibson will not guaranty a Dark/Black board ,,,At Gibson's prices for M2M ...That's a Joke ....

Custom Build or MO from a source who will get it right ... with the right stuff .. Getting into huge bucks and not Original Gibson ,,,,, So ,,,,

Or ,,,, I have a BRW R0 looking for a new home (yup , selfish plug , but I want to move it , so sue me:lol: )

Wildwood's BRW boards look very dark and consistent. CME's boards color is not as dark, and is not as consistent. The BRW examples provided by the OP look more like CME's. Maybe Wildwood managed to visit the Custom Shop first, and chose the best boards (at least color wise)? Or maybe Gibson is saving the darker color BRW boards for another special run. Who knows. But I definitely like Wildwood's BRW boards better.

Maybe? But how can we tell for sure? If they did, I think they did a pretty dang good job.

For the upcharge I'd pass on any Braz. board. I mean, does it *really* sound different? I wonder. If I had to have one, it wouldn't matter which of those I'd choose because after it gets fretted and strings are over it and the natural oils from your fingers stain it, it just won't make much difference in looks.
