What are some of your favorite old movies (really old, black and white old)

My two favorite old movies are Strangers on a Train (1951) and The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

    Metropolis

have seen many different versions of it __ some with color . some with soundtracks
watched this version just last week. so creeeepy with the voice overs :eek2:

( edit : I've always wondered what sorts of drugs the actors in this film were on . some of the facial expressions __ especially with the eyes . are unhuman )

White Heat is always the first movie that comes to mind when b&w is mentioned. That or anything else with James Cagney playing the tough guy.

maaaaan, you ain't lyin. The smile on her face when she starts dancing, the jiggle in her wiggle. Stuff like that make a mofo fall in love.

I guess if we're limited to B&W I have to say the first Godzilla movie. There's not really too many B&W movies I really like, but they're all monster movies. (the classics, the Universal Monsters, Godzilla, King Kong, Psycho..the ones everyone is familiar with. The day the earth stood still, metropolis, nosferatu.)

But yeah at the moment I'd say the original Godzilla is my favorite old B&W movie.

So, I guess there's no rules here and colour movies are allowed?
