+1 for Johnny Marr. Even if you don't like The Smiths, his guitar playing is stellar. Give a listen to 'What Difference does it Make?', 'Girl Afraid' or 'Bigmouth Strikes Again'. Mostly Les Pauls through vintage Fender amps with The Smiths.
Plus his Ric 330, Teles, and many, many, many other things. Marr is a genius!
My personal favourite photos of Mike Bloomfield playing his '59 burst . . .
And, a favourite of him playing the guitar he swapped to get that burst, a '54 goldtop . . .
Plus, a favourite of Peter Green . . .
And, Muddy Waters with his once-upon-a-time goldtop (this photo was once used as the front jacket shot for his entry in the old Chess Vintage Blues Series, Sail On . . . )
I'll throw one lesser-known, recent player in the fray: Romy from The XX - one of the most identifiable guitar sounds in the last 10 years. Remember the Apollo Ohno commercial from the 2010 Olympics ? (yes you do) That's Romy.
Les Paul Standard ... name that sparkle finish?

All of my favourites have pretty much been covered, but one.
I haven't seen that P Green photo before, do you know where it's from?
Vote for Koss....nice
There are plenty more, but these are the main Les Paul players!

He's mostly a Tele guy, but I dig Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai:

Mike McCready. My all-time favorite player. Recognized more for his playing using Strat guy, but he uses Pauls, too.
