Saw this on Reverb! Very cool looking guitar. Has some GE markings on the inside if you check out the rest of the pics. If GE had it, it must be a great guitar.

The price is a little high for that condition.

With celebrity-associated collectibles, the ordinary market price goes out the window. Nobody would have paid two and a half million bucks for a 60's J-160E if it hadn't been owned by John Lennon; you can buy and sell 'em all day for $5-6k.

We're talking GE Smith here....not John Lennon. I honestly wouldn't pay a dime more for a guitar owned by GE Smith vs. one owned by Joe Smith.

Could be argued that GE's stable of guitars have been in the presence of more greatness than any other collection. His resume of people he's played with is unprecedented I would think. Maybe put Sid McGinnis of the Letterman band in that group.

That shop is near me. I can afford the gas to get out to Brookfield. The guitar, not so much.

i wonder if we are just hearing about more players unloading gear as they think the market is getting soft or think it may be an idea to clean house a bit as they are closer to the exit door than the entrance.....

some might like this listening to some SNL stories...i wasnt a fan of the guy when i first started watching SNL but then he was a staple and i wanted to see what guitar he was playin that week.....he had and probably still has some neat stuff...

He's always had great guitars. Check out this H&O show from almost 35 years ago.

I saw G.E. on SNL, thought he was lame. Goofy.

Then I saw him NOT on SNL. Excellent player. NOT goofy even slightly.

Then I saw him "replace" David Gilmour on a Roger Waters "The Wall" tour. G.E. is the real-deal.

Fine guitarist. But he still looks like a cross between Quentin Tarantino and Frankenstein.

I think it's the latter. A beat up custom for that price is not "soft market" pricing.

not to be cruel but i got to agree with you there, i remember watching SNL n thinking who the hell is that guy, what a weirdo.....and has a few guitars...with the facial expressions and such you only saw like 15 seconds of the band playing if that, but yes he can play...im not into dudes so who cares if he looks like frank n tarantino

i thought they felt the market was heading towards a soft market (decline) so they were unloading, like snowy white's at $95k.... comments were that was a premium price for it.......i honestly have no clue , i am not in the nose bleed ranks for vintage guitars..

i would love to see the $25k mark for premium and forget the star add on value...but i think that day is past.

GE's a badass, no matter his guitar-face. If he played the guitar enough to milk the finish off, it's probably a good goddamned axe.
