Congratulations, that thing oozes mojo and vibe!
What are you plans with it?
For now, just have Greg redo the original repair and maybe have Dave Johnson do the headstock holly veneer and a stinger. Down the road, possibly either a darkback goldtop or all gold and some serious relic work
Wait until you play it man! Thanks again for the easy deal.
Good to know its not going to be butchered, either.
Play the hell out of it!
shoulda said: "I'm gonna route it and drop a set of emg pickups in there then get some heavy metal flames painted on the top around a pink hue of Lady GaGa's image in the middle"
very jealous....just brought a 59 replica, I wish I had the cash for that one too!! Great deal on what looks like a killer guitar!
Great score, glad that it stayed with one of us.
can you put a link to that thread?? I cant find it
Here ya go, OJ
OH SHOOT! I wish I'd seen that thread earlier!!!!!
Anyway, congrats on a killer guitar! Pics and video please!
Thanks! Ive seen that guitar in the thread where he found it or something. Its a killer guitar! Congrats with your new toy. I wouldnt change anything untill you played it for a while!
And please dont call me OJ.
I knew that would get a rise out of you
Leave it how it is!!! For the love of god that might be the sweetest thing out there man...
I am, but I do want to address the headstock repair. The more I see the pics, the more I'm liking that burst. Same thing happened with my 69 Deluxe. When I first saw the pics of that one, I thought it was too red, but it turned out to be the crappy pics. Once I got it, I really liked it
See what I mean?
I think you'll dig it
I was thinking...'what could amount to the greatest desecration...' and Lady GaGa popped into mind..
BTW: nice score! I wish I had the capital to make the deal...not today.
And, have Greg refret it, then leave it alone!!!
I was wondering when you were gonna chime in, Dice. I've yet to get a hold of Greg and go over it, but like I said before, I'm going to try to at least redo the repair and correct the headstock angle. In all the pics I've seen, there's enough meat on those original frets to dress and crown them. From what Ryan told me, he just didn't like how narrow they were. I'll see what Greg tells me and decide whether or not to disturb the force in the Mojo on those nibs
