Best "Slashtone" I heard was coming out of a signature Yngwie Marshall. :laugh2: ..go figure.

"To my ears Slashtone was heavy gain but with a lot of bite and definition. "

    this. +1

After the AFD album came out, I went into the "tape store" (because records were mostly gone and CDs had yet to arrive) in Lake Forest Mall, I think it was a Waxie Maxies or Sam Goody, every week and looked out for the arrival of that AFD tab book.

Then, I convinced my local guitar jamming buddies that tuning down to Eb was the only way to play because I didn't want to be constantly re-tuning my guitar with the stupid little pitch pipe I used for doing so, back then.

It's still fun to play all that stuff!

Slash gets Slash tone no matter what amp he uses. The WLH pickups are excellent and versatile as Oldbenkenobi mentioned. That wind is a winner. The custom shop set is another notch up too.

SD SPH-1 pups will do the trick.

It drove me nuts, as a kid, to have my guitar tuned a half step down and the next song on the record player was standard tuning... So, I eventually acquired a bunch of guitars so that I could have one in each different tuning that I like to use.

Same here! bottom corner by the escalators right? Next to a big 2 level store like Sears or JC Penny. And they had T-shirts and posters on the back wall, and on the left side they had a crappy little guitar section about halfway down that had books and strings and pics on this black, shelves,..thing.

That's where I got my terrible GHS Boomers that were always on sale. (because they sucked!)

man LF Mall is like a ghetto slum now. :laugh2:

I can't remember the name of the store either. I want to say it was 'Fye' ?

That's back when Victor Litz was in that tiny little white house on 355 with the crappy green astro-turf entrance steps. And it was this small, dark, dingy, magical guitar world. :dude:

When did I say I hate Slash? :hmm: Pretty sure I wouldn't know how to play some of his stuff if I hated him.

There's really not any guitarists I hate. Some I just like a lot more than others.

Yep. I remember that, well. I got up early with a few friends one summer and waited outside that old Victor Litz house for their sidewalk sale. I bought a B-stock Rhodes V body, a Floyd trem, and a bunch of gutted Kramer parts from the $5 junk bin. It was a glorious day!

I was stoked when I moved back to MD from NY, many years later, and went into their new location to check it out and saw Jeff standing behind the counter, big hair and all, just like nothing had changed! I was like, "Man, you sold me some of my first guitars and amps, 20 years ago." He replies, "James, right?" DUDE! I wouldn't have even recognized myself, but he did. Amazing!

I heard LF is being demoed, now. Tearing it down. Man, I know we must have crossed paths hundreds of times, Mal.

Most likely we did. :thumb: if you saw me i had long hair and sunglasses, always, day and night inside and out i never took them off. Even in school i wore them.

uhm,..if you ever saw a thrash band called Lunacyde I was in that band. If you ever saw a metal band with a black drummer named Reggie, I was in that band (we played together in different bands for years, and he was the only black metal drummer in the area I ever saw. Seems like everyone knew Reggie.) I'd be the quiet guy in the corner with a guitar running scales. :laugh2: ..I think I was probably the youngest person to play at Mannys on Rockville Pike in Rockville. I don't think they had any idea how young the lead guitarist was when they booked the band. It was probably illegal for me to be in there at the time. :laugh2: Would've been probably between 89-94.

I'd forgotten all about the sidewalk sale. That was a big deal.

I think some dislike the Slash worship.

but at the same time I bet everyone here has a guitar hero, so......
