As you would expect from a semi-hollow body, this one is loud and resonant acoustically. Plug it in, and this guitar plays and sounds wonderful! The Rumpelstiltskin White Rope pickups are the finest 60s repros you can get. Clear, spanky and with a bright twang just like the vintage 60s style Tele sound, these pickups have the typical scooped midrange - the tone is classic Tele and can play any style music you need to play. These pickups are wonderfully balanced - you won't have to crank the volume any time you switch to the neck pickup or vice versa. The neck is a very comfortable soft-V. Don't let the thickness distract you, this does not play like a chunky neck - it is very comfortable and fast. The 3-way harness positions are (from back to front): Bridge only (normal Tele) Bridge and Neck in parallel Neck only At some point when setting up this guitar, I noticed that two of the bridge mounting holes were drilled off center, preventing the bridge from being installed properly (It would not have lined up properly at all. To repair, the four holes were marked and then drilled out on a drill press using a quarter inch bit. Afterwards, 4 quarter inch by 1/2 buttress threaded inserts were screwed into the new holes which are lined up perfectly. This DOES NOT affect functionality. If you understand what a buttress thread is, unlike a standard Acme style (diamond shaped thread), the tops of the buttress thread are flat, parallel with the top of the guitar. The result is a mechanical joint that will actually withstand more torque than the original joint without the inserts. It's similar to the recent fad of installing inserts on bolt on necks. The theory is that it is stronger. In any event, the bridge is solidly mounted and sustain and tone is as wonderful as you would expect. However, in the spirit of full disclosure, I'm making sure that potential buyers are aware of this. It is still fully guaranteed as all of our guitars. Also notice in the two shots of the case, there is a small impression in the top by the edge. I bought 4 of these cases brand new, and this one had this indentation. It's fully functional, does not seem to be any deeper than the tolex, but it's there and I want to point it out. This guitar is setup, stage ready and just waiting for musician! You will not be disappointed! It has been assembled with the same care and attention to detail as all of our products. *TundraTone is NOT affiliated with Fender Musical Instrument Corporation (FMIC) or any other musical instrument manufacturer - no way, no how.
