I don't know much about amps but according to the reviews the wait for the release of the THR was worth the wait but seriously two 8cm speakers -_-''

Is the Yamaha THR5-THR10 better than the Fender Mustang Series?

Those tiny speakers can handle bass and pedal steel, your guitar will be loved. The cleans are sweet and stereo cleans delicious, the distortion channels react tube-like and even without the usb interaction these babys are action packed, plus the phone out allows for club system use. After 2 months of scouring the web for every pro/con mention I'm awaiting Mr. Postman to drop off mine at the best price I've yet to find YAMAHA THR10 DESKTOP AMPLIFIER NEW IN BOX L@@K!! | eBay These tech marvels can't be touched, yet, and for $300- they can't be beat unless you'd just prefer high amp volume.

They go for 199 to 299 on Musiciansfriend

So do you think that in the long run the THR is a most better choice than the Fender M?ustang

I don't think the $199 THR10 listings are actually real, I've tried to avail them with no success.

Better choice? It depends on one's needs/desires, it certainly suited mine, and I was seriously contemplating a Mustang III and a few other SS amps.

I don't care if it sounds better than a Dumble, I'm not buying an amp that looks like a radiator.

I dunno if it is or not, however it's impossible to find a bad word about the THR10 on T'net..:hmm:

I actually wanted to like this little amp. I think it has some cool features. It has one major flaw I couldn't get beyond - it sounds horrible in every clip and video I could find.

For that money, you can get a Vox AC4TV mini. I'm sure there are lots of other good options in that range as well.

I'd rather have a few pretty sweet tones as opposed to a million mediocre ones.

If you really really really want effects then buy a $40 Zoom or Digitech pedal that will sound about the same.

I don't get why when things like this get demoed it's always with so much gain. They all just sound like a cheap pedal rather than an amp.

I've always personally prefered the Roland SS stuff over most other brands.

The only SS amp I currently own is a Micro-cube. I mostly use it on my workbench for quick tests, but it does sound great as a little practice amp.

And yes, for $50ish used they're a WAY better deal than most SS amps new.

I'm not sold at all. It's got a very brittle drive tone. No thanks.

Because many people think any distortion is good distortion. Every gain tone I'm hearing from this amp is like nails-on-a-chalkboard to my ears. The distortion is much too grainy and inorganic, almost as if it's layered over the signal.

    The clean tones aren't bad.
