    Hi,

I have just bought this gorgeous MIJ "Les Paul" Yamaha. It looks and sounds really like it was made in a time and place where quality wasn't just marketing...It's in perfect condition, 100% original. I was really lucky to find such a serious seller with such a great piece.

It's my first non-ST electric guitar and I really love it.

The playability and sound are nice and it pleases the collector side of my brain to have a kind of vintage LP guitar. All my first guitars were yamaha, so I kind of like and trust the brand.

    Here's the one :

Congratulations! I have the same 450SL but in black! its a decent guitar and a piece of japanese guitar history, a time when even Yamaha was producing a copy of the LP.

    The seller
    is a great photographer ; )

But the guitar is really good looking, without any bling, which I like !

Yamaha's take on the hated cherry burst was pretty nice looking. Definitely better than what you saw on the earlier Tokai LS50s and LS60s.

If you told me I would buy a cherry burst, I wouldn't have believed you...

But something feels just right for me there.

It should be 1982. This model was only made in 1982 and 1983. Serial numbers are all over the place...

Thank you for the link !

    Mine would fit there :

"Alternate serial number configurations for Yamaha Electric, Archtop, and Bass Guitars

Made in Japan, 1966-1984. For SG, SX, and BB series.

    1982 : 059620 to 096639"

That matches what I know. So these alternate serials would work for SG, SX, BB and SL then...

I gotta say... that is the cleanest 35 year old example I've seen. It looks like it was purchased and placed under the bed until you bought it. What a great score!

    I know, right ?

The guy, a semi-pro musician, very cautious and serious, has a friend for years in Japan who sent him many MIJ. This one was always kept at home and played in turns with others...So it didn't move from original state.

He still has this one to sell, in tobacco burst, but with some light scratches, a "ding", no Pu covers and 200 gramms heavier. Nice one anyway !
