"DANG!" I didn't think it would be this good of a pedal.
That's it !? That's all ya got? No details as to what's so good about it. Strengths & weaknesses.
Genre of music it suits best ? C'mon man spill the beans.
I have it,too and it just does magic to the tone. fattens up or lifts your solo parts up.
anywhere a big PLUS for rock blues soul jazz ...
I love them buggers.....so much that I have two of'em.
Ugh!! Got a couple buddies that love em too...makes me want one!!
Only thing is, I have an EahX Soul Food that does the clean boost SO well, and really fills in some high gain with my strat SO well....it's hard to justify another boost pedal for me unless it's verrrrry complete and versatile...like that new horizon drive that tightens your attack, noise gate too...stuff like that.
Xotic EP Booster is the new Klon Centaur.
I also own and like the Soul Food for some things. Tonally the Xotic EP is on another level.
I've been wanting this one, or another old lovepedal amp50....sold mine while back.
Does the EP get good and nasty like the amp50? Nasty as in... around 3'oclock you get massive saturation and breakup. ???
Not owning one but based on this demo I'd say no
Based on what do you say that?
I have one too and I love it. It's built like a tank too.
I borrowed one from a buddy a while back. Great boost for sure. But, it had a bit too much low end for me and my rigs. I have since bought a Chase Tone Golden Secret Pre and it does exactly what I hoped. Just adds a smooth flavor to everything.
I have the Xotic EP Booster & the Chase Tone Secret Preamp.
I like them both but right now seem to have a slight preference for the SPA.
They are different & both good and most of my pro friends prefer the EPB but in a large live situation, in the hands of a pro, I can see why they like the EPB.
Have not made up my mind as yet & may well use both.
I would counter the above demo with this one..............sounds way better with a Strat to my ears but let's not forget we are talking about compressed TY Clips.
This is the Lovepedal Tchula Boost / OD, which I also have but at this stage I find it has a little too much push for me, albeit I have only used it for long & need to play around with it (I'm a pedal ignoramus & prefer not to use them although I have had success with the SPA).
Right on,brother....the SPA and the EP are an integral part of my sound. Right now,the EP more than the SPA. I love the Tchula. Im a huge fan of the COT-50,and this bugger just makes me smile.
That tchula is nice. Damm
Actually I have the mother of the Tchula on my board which is the Love Pedal Les Lius.
The Les Lius offers three Fender sounds being toggled to the right the Tweeds, in the middle is the High Power Twin and to the left is the combination of the two which they call Tchula.
If you play any slide try the Tchula. Out of this world. lol
The EP Booster replaced all my overdrives.
I use my amp's natural gain for the main sound. And kick on the EP for solos.
I tried the EP Booster for a while with great expectations. Ålayed it with my Les Pauls (w/ hb's & p90's) thru Vox AC30 (clean pedal platform) and my Tweed Deluxe clone (to boost the amps natural crunch). Checked the DIP-swithes too.
I was quite amazed because I did not hear anything else but a pedal that makes my signal a bit louder (even in most min adjust) and a bit treblier.
It left me very confused. It was not in unity gain so comparing its sound to amp's normal sound was difficult. It was always louder and treblier. So I had to ask myself, is that the reason people like it? Louder and brighter sounds usually better for the ears of the guitarists!
I could not hear any other magic. I am happy that so many have found it but I had to sell the pedal.
