Hey man. That is great news. Ya know, getting your friends involved in something like this (group buy) is always a risky proposition isn't it. I mean ya don't want to recommend something to someone you see (read) every day and then have them unhappy.

But in the case of the Xitone I was extremely sure that this was a great recommendation. Having had a few of these and it's main competitor, the Atomic CLR, this was one of the easiest recommendations I could make.

Now, where the hell are the photos of that artwork. :headbanger:

For those that missed this Group Buy... I'm sorry to hear that. But all is not lost because Mick is easy to reach and knows this bunch very well. Give him a shout. While you won't get the extra perks the group got, you will get the high quality, incredible sounding, hand made Cab he is known for.

It's here and it's a beauty. The quality is clearly evident just by looking at it. This is a serious piece of equipment. I'll be able to give it a bit of a test run this evening, but I'm quite pleased with the workmanship and the grill turned out really well. I'll get some photos later, as well.

Here are a couple of it stuck in my little "music corner". When we move to a house, I hope to graduate to a "music room", but for now, this is more than enough.

I'm getting ready to fire it up with the Amplifire, but I won't have much time before my wife gets home.

    That is awesome.

Also remember. There is no need to play loud with this equipment. It will sound great even st whisper volume.

You're right, it does sound good a low volumes. What does the DSP Mode switch on the back do, if you know? I can tell it changes the sound, but I haven't played with it enough to figure out what it does. It seems like it has three modes and I can't find anything about it on Matrix Amps website.

MODE 1 FRFR = 1 blue flash sequence.
MODE 2 FRFR with 12" only no tweeter = 2 blues flash in sequence.
MODE 3 12" driver RAW. No tweeter or crossover. = 3 blue flash in sequence.

I guess leave it in Mode 1 for now. I do.

    Yep. There ya go.

The bi-amp ability of the Matrix allows different modes.

Thank you. And yes, from what little I could hear during my brief testing yesterday, Mode 1 was my favourite.

Well that makes sense because mode 1 is the only FRFR mode...

Next up for my Amplifire is to try some IRs. I haven't really dug into it too deeply as I have to fix my computer so I can get at the editing software. I think the power supply's blown and I've been lazy to pull it apart, clean it and go through testing procedures on the power. It's been about six months now, so I should get off my butt and get it done. The computer is pretty long in the tooth, but it was still running well.

Thanks, man. I was unsure about the yellow, but it really pops.

You're going to be blown away once you start trying out IRs through the XiTone. This is the way they're meant to be heard. Incredible. Now I can sit down with my AA3 and see what it can do. I've already got some good clean sounds from the M Britt presets that really only need some minor tweeks and leveling. Maybe play with some different IRs. The higher gain stuff needs a lot of work. At least I know the FRFR component is nailed, so if I can't get the higher gain tone I want from the AA3, it'll be time to upgrade the modeler to one of the high end ones. Hell, I might even do that anyway.

Great stuff. You see the different personalities come out a bit when you see what each of us has had done to the grills. I am very happy that this turned out so well. As I have said in the past. Ya never know with a group buy of any kind how things will end up.
