Would you buy an Epi flying V with a crack in the finish below the neck joint. Seller believes it to be just finish. Is this something seen on these guitars or am I right to suspect the neck joint might be cracking?

That just looks like a lacquer crack along the glue join. Nothing serious to worry about, only cosmetic.

My guitar has a crack near that location and it's just in the finish. Had multiple luthiers check it out and they said it was fine and that there was no cause for worry about the wood breaking or anything like that.

Poly doesn't just crack on it's own, especially along joints, that's taken some sort of knock on the neck for it to crack and split the finish below the joint. Doesn't necessarily mean the necks buggered but without seeing it in person you can't really tell. Unless it's a real bargain it's probably not worth the hassle.

While it was £70's it seemed reasonable. It went for more and not to me
