I have a set. They do Led Zeppelin without a sweat. They nail Hotel California, Victim of Love, Sunshine of your love, Whiskey in the jar and pretty much everything AC/DC. I've been without playing them since Monday night and I can't wait to get home.

    ^
We're in a thread with a video of the pickups in question showing just what they do.

I saw the video. I'm asking for members who have them to give us their tone reports and impressions.

    They sound like the video.

I don't put much weight on the way these videos sound. I'm asking for owners to share their impressions on how
the pickups sound and feel to them while they are playing through their own rig.

How do these differ from the WIZZ regular winds?

I have a set, A5 bridge/A2 neck rather than the dual A4 that Alex usually uses. Also, DCR is tweaked to compensate for the different mags.

Strong but clear. They really push my amps; I can dig in and get all kinds of grit on my Tweed Champ at around noon, as opposed to the 2-3 o'clock range with other 'buckers. None of the mud I have encountered with the hotter A4 winds, though. Bridge can get a bit shrill when cranked through a smaller amp, but backing off the treble helps. I have heard this "tele on steroids" thing, and I completely disagree. They sound nothing like single coils to me. I have a wicked set of Page winds in a monster tele with a super five-way, and it would still take 2 or 3 pedals to get here from there.

They are absolutely overpriced, but they sound great.

I think that describes the steroids part to a T, stronger and bigger (fatter).

As far as price, we are paying a $375 premium for nos wire, it's a supply and demand thing; it's not like you can go to stewmac and order a spool of the stuff. Finds are fairly rare.

Nah. I did some A/B yesterday, and the Wizz have none of the twang/spank of a Tele single coil. They sound nothing alike.

They have vintage wire on them.
Nobody but Alex would probably know if he had to alter the pattern, or chose to in order to keep certain tonal aspects.
My guess is that they are wound like the regulars....mainly as he seems to have basically one option for regular winds. Certainly they sound in the same ballpark, but just 'more of everything'
