Epiphone at MusiCares Pete Townshend signed Wilshire auctions for $50,000 06.05.2015 Photos by Kevin Mazur © 2015 On May 29, Pete Townshend of The Who was honored by MusiCares and the GRAMMY Foundation with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his commitment to helping musicians overcome addiction. "The secret for me, to be able to do this 50th anniversary tour with The Who, and still kind of put on a reasonable show and be up there and move around and enjoy the music has been the thirty years that Ive been clean," Townshend told the audience. Pete signed a classic Epiphone Wilshire (his first "good" electric guitar) for the annual MusiCares auction and the high bid went all the way up to $50,000. Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett, and Roger Daltrey put on a terrific show in Pete's honor. Congrats, Pete from all your fans at Epiphone and Gibson. And special thanks to Kevin Mazur and The Recording Academy®/WireImage.com, for the terrific photos of Pete and MusiCares Vice President Scott Goldman.
