Why can't I delete, or edit my classified ad's? Are they permanent

I contacted admin 2 times with e mail, but no answer. I also made several attempts to delete and re post. Can someone shed light on this? I hate to leave SOLD items up.

    All the best

I assume a deal could go bad for whatever reason and a record remains....?

and / or the mods would get hammered with constant requests. ?

Your post is editable for 24 hours, after that....its "carved in the proverbial stone" .

I have often wondered how folks edit the title of their post to say something has sold, I never seem to be able to do that? Is this also a 24 hour thing?

Yeah, I have multiple guitars for sale and it would be nice to be able to delete the sold guitars....but rules are rules.

So in the rules it says that it stays forever?

Say you want to up the price, or lower it is that not ok? Or ad trades, or for sale only? Or?

Or say if something sells? And you keep getting PM's saying well you should have TOLD the members! And said it SOLD in your ad! And you try to explain you can't edit it. And the OP thinks you are lazy and won't remove it. And it sounds more like an excuse as to why it was not deleted. Is this the best that can be done?

Click on the little triangle above "Post Reply" and tell the mods you want it deleted.

Guy's you can always add a post to your thread to say something has sold.
I just don't know how some members have said an item is sold in the title, maybe the item just sold super quick?

Either way I very much appreciate this forum and the free use of the classifieds! It has helped me obtain a G0 Les Paul that I truly love!

What would it matter, just put sold at the end of the thread.

I think it would be helpful to have them stay, that way if you're buying or selling you can have a price point other then ebay, which would be helpful for everyone.

SKIT it worked.((((( The little white triangle))))))above post reply. I wrote a quick note to the Mod, and in under an hour, he helped me out. Thanks again SKIT and the mods. I am not very computer savvy, I never would have noticed it.

I've done it by editing the post but had to click the "Go Advanced" button at the bottom to edit the title field.

Not being able to delete or edit an ad will prevent me from ever posting in the classified section on here again.

Had I known that first, I would have never posted in the classified section.

Once the server has backed up the website,
changes are not permitted. A post at the end
is the easiest way to let people know the item
is no longer for sale. You can always contact
one of the Moderators for assistance.

Problem is adding that last post ends up bumping a bunch of dead/sold threads to the front page that people have to wade through. And some of these adds have multiple pages in themselves that someone might waste reading through only to get to the end and discover its been sold.

Best to allow editing and locking but not deleting. That way the record remains and one can simply indicate its been sold an/or lock their own thread rather than bumping them. Works fine on other forums.

I agree. It would be nice to see in the thread title if the item had been SOLD.

That way you can move on and not waste your time looking at something you are possibly interested in only to find out it's SOLD 2-3 pages later.

All threads you've started (and reported to close) had been dumped, so what is the issue ???
