Thanks so very much. I'll omit the "previous amps" if that's OK, and I'll forward the Micro Terror to the Solid State thread. Really nifty package, that Micro is :)

    Cornell Plexi 18/20 Combo
    Dr Z Mini Z
    Swart AST Pro w/Celestion Blue

Purchased the Cornell Plexi, unheard, after reading a rave review by David Wilson in ToneQuest. Wasn't too much money and it is probably the best amp I have ever heard (just as David said). They're not that common and usually not that much, so well worth a try if you see one. Haven't heard the other Cornell amps, so can't speak to those. Mr. Cornell is also quite response with any questions. Works especially well with Les Paul.

    http://www.tonequest.com/files/TQROct13_Web.pdf

The Dr Z Mini Z is a one trick pony. It really is an amp/pedal combo and if it's the trick you want it's very hard to beat. Tube changes don't offer much in providing a wider range before breakup, so I replaced the stock speaker with a AlNiCo Weber 8A150 to give it more headroom. It probably weighs more than the Swart Pro now, but it is the most pedal friendly amp I've tried. The speaker is expensive and there are a lot of good amps around, so I wouldn't do this unless you need a really small (and heavy) amp for use with pedals. Changing speakers is really hit or miss, but this combo worked.

I've thought more than once about pulling the trigger on one of those Bugeras myself. Interesting concept of preserving tube longevity.

Which Valvestate is that next to your cab? I had an AVT20; Really really nice amp.

I've been wanting a Cornell Plexi 7; I just think the 18/20 is way too much amp for a strictly at-home player.

Which Mini Z do you have--the original 1x8 or the 1x10 with attenuator. I loved my original Mini 110. This is me for selling it: [IMG]

I've never been able to totally get that sound back with subsequent ones.

Original 8" Dr Z Mini Z. Found for not too much and the stock sound is just great fun.

Yes, the 18/20 may be a bit much for home use, but it sounds so good it's hard to stop.
