    Anyone here have Hotmail?

Suddenly yesterday I have had hundred of these damn junk mails. They are ones called, return to sender, mail notification not delivered and all those type of headings.
I checked it out on google to see if this is the latest spam, and well it was a year ago but I am getting it now.
I can't block the sender as apparently it is actually coming from variety of websites. New one each time.
Someone is using my email address and sends it to a website knowing it will be bounced back, and which in fact in the original email that was sent to them, is spam advertising. I didn't open the mail to read them though in case of virus, that was according to what I found on google.

Now the emails are going into my inbox but mostly into my junk mail. I don't really want to delete all junk immediately as sometimes a good one goes through to there and I like to check them before trashing them.

Any ideas how I can filter on hotmail? On yahoo you can chose words in title or content or from an email address to block. I can't find it on hotmail anywhere. I can only find block senders but that don't help me.

Any ideas please? It's driving me nuts lol

    Cheers

I use MSN mail (same thing) Upper right corner Options. Drop. More Options.
There you will find the filter...
I only have my inbox set for people on my contact list.

    Hope this helps:thumb:

I did that Axe, but there was no option on the filter section to filter words and alike :(
Filters and reporting, safe and block senders, that's all. I guess Hotmail/windows live forgot if off their menu when they changed it?

I have hotmail and only the people in my contact list go to my inbox. I don't have my junk folder set to delete either (so I can look through it for people not on my safe/contact list).

+1 - keep one e-mail for private use - friends, sites you trust. Keep another for more exposed uses - buy/sell sites, information, etc, and accept that you'll get lots of spam. I have (free) accounts with GMail and HotMail for the "public" uses. I give hardly anyone my cable-ISP account - no spam at all there.

Axe, if you look in those options you just posted, in there, there is no choice for blocking/filtering out emails that contain... etc

I don't think there's a word filter type option with hotmail.

    Choose a junk e-mail filter
Select the filter level you want to apply to incoming messages.
Low - Obvious junk e-mail is sent to the junk e-mail folder.
Standard - Most junk e-mail is sent to the junk e-mail folder.
Exclusive - Everything is sent to the junk e-mail folder except messages from your contacts and safe senders, Windows Live Hotmail service announcements, and alerts that you signed up for.

    No word type filter.
I can check my junk and delete as necessary.

Unfortunately this email is private and used mainly for family. I have had it since late 90's :(
I can't close this one down, too many close friends/family know it and only way for them to contact me if they can't trace me in the US. And it's linked to many accounts I have. Jeez :(

I have other email addresses I use specifically for other friends, forums, that kind of thing.

    Thanks guys

Yeah I do have it on Exclusive. For some reason the odd one is getting through to inbox, because I guess Hotmail thinks its email that is being returned to me.

Bubby, it used to have that word filter on it, I guess they took it off when it changed recently.
Time to complain to hotmail I think lol I will just leave those spam ones mount up.

    I had 64 in 20 mintues just now..omg! lol

Out of all my email addresses over the years, Hotmail actually has been the best regarding junk.
My main yahoo..omg now there I few hundred a day, mostly that I have won the UK lottery, penis enlargments, viagra and work for google lol
I have 4 other yahoo accounts that I use for other things, and don't get much junk at all.

The hotmail is hard to change or close down, my first ever email address when internet started to be known lol
