Warren =HOLY SMOKE- The Sg Picker is no scrub.....
I'd like to play the next song for my mutha..
Fuck all the mini h8trs.
So many great players with great LP tone! I'm a big fan of many of the guys mentioned here; Green, Kossoff, Gibbons, Betts, Allman, Bloomfield, Bonamassa, etc. But, IMHO, the LP tone we're talking about here all started with Clapton/Beano. Some of these other great players picked up a Lester all because of EC's tone on that album.
One of my alltime favorites!
Gary Richrath. I joined an REO Speedwagon tribute band, and just keep getting blown away by his tone. Some may disagree, but I'm digging it.
I always liked that tone....
'Meet the new boss, same as the old boss' Nuff said.
Let 'em talk if it keeps the prices down!
Steve Gaines of Skynyrd.
Richrath,Moore & Slash are my favorites .
Nobody ever mentions Mick Jones of Foreigner & Spookytooth. He has great tone.
Yep... JB and some old hunk of hog sounding really quite good in that live version.
Don't forget randy rhoads he could make his les sing when he wanted
I'm in the minority here (based on your assumption about the age of the majority), but I'm not familiar with current rock music that well. Having said that, I don't think many contemporary guitarists play Les Pauls, more something like PRSes and ESPs. That could be one of the reasons they're not mentioned in a thread about Les Paul tones
To be fair, just remembered one: the guy in the Foos sometimes plays Les Pauls. But I think their tone is the same regardless of what guitars they play. They recorded their previous record in different studios specifically to capture the magic of each studio, and yet all the songs on the record have exactly the same sound. And I think that's one of the problems with contemporary rock music.
By the way, it might seem like I'm bashing Foo Fighters, but I actually like the band.
Slash, Kossoff, Gary Moore, Dean Deleo, JD Simo, Bernie Marsden, it seems to change frequently.
I found with my 59 les paul replica, my Demeter TGA Inverter 2, a Malekko Ekko 616 in the loop, along with my 65 Amps Whiskey cab G12H30 2x12 cab; I can cop almost any tone I want. It's all in how you dial everything in.
Here a hint.. they came in today.. they’re going into my ‘13 Traditional
This one is for my friend mdubya, thanks for reminding me about great tone, man
At lot of players I talk to don't even acknowledge VR, to me great stuff and lead at 2:40 is there...
For me, always has been and always will be Frampton.
