Come on, let's see a pic with that mint guard you were talking about! I'm dying here!
Haha, the mint guard was already on it.
I'll take some shots Sunday afternoon now that it's back and reassembled.
Really? That's not the '65-'67 parchment one? My eyes suck. Anyway, that's the coolest looking Strat I've seen, and if you ever want to trade straight-up for a nice Candy Cola one, just hit me up...
Here's the '65-'67 parchment lying on top of the mint repro...
OK, it was a busy weekend, but I got some time to take some pics with my Strat re-assembled. Here's the finished product!
dayuuuuuum...you picked the best color, that looks great wow , great job
OMG with an ebony neck !!!
i think something just moved a little in my pants
Re: the fretboard... it's Brazilian rosewood that's just been played a lot so it's really dark.
Very Very Very Cool! There is nothing wrong with a white strat, they're timeless. However, they can become boring. This has some great character and looks outstanding
Well,, that turned out nice. great job.
I voted Seafoam in the poll, cause I'm biased, my old Strat is the same color.
Wow. That thing looks insanely fabulous...!!
Beautiful work on the re-finish and the aging!!
I’m a sucker for Sonic Blue and Surf Green but mostly because my old and much-loved 1986 MIJ ST62 started out as Sonic and has progressively aged and yellowed until it looks almost exactly like your new re-fin!!
I would have voted for almost exactly what you ended up doing but it felt strangely self-serving to do so (!). Thanks for sharing though: I have often considered swapping the original white plastic three-ply pickguard (which is still oddly white after all these years) for either tortoiseshell or an aged mint-green — I think I now know the answer!
When i bought my 2010 Custom Shop '62 Strat with a mint pickguard, i asked the dealer why the rear cavity cover was white when all the other plastics on the guitar were cream...he said that it was normal because the parchment doesn't change colour with age.
some body needs to start a let's see all the sea foam Strats thread.
Sounds like a plan to me!
Best get started...
My vote is for surf or seafoam green... I always want to eat that colour.
1. Olympic White - Al Jardine, hero!
2. Sonic Blue
2a. (ETA) Cream
3. Old original Ocean Turquois Green
You guys realize the project is already done right?
