If the a-team looking one was given to me I wouldn’t complain.. the rest are god awful. Id rather them put out a “mystery machine” colour scheme... gotta love Scoob and the gang

    Thanks!

Yeah, maybe offering those designs on a Studio would have been a better way to go, instead of an expensive Custom.

That’s the green swirl Anniversary Flood LP up above.
I definitely preferred the blue, but I’m sure there are people who liked the green better. These type of guitars certainly aren’t for everyone, but heck that doesn’t matter anyway.

I am in the tiny minority that actually likes the color schemes. However... 5K?!?!?! Really?!

I could see these finishes working on an Explorer or V.

I still think that is one of the dumbest marketing lines ever in the history of the world.

if I was “famous” and Gibson gave me one of these to promote the line i would take it home and sand every inch of that terrible paint off that beautiful maple.

I can''t help but think of Carvin / Kiesel guitars business model. They appear to be doing very well. Slow and steady. I had a Carvin in the early 2000s, great guitar. If Gibson went to that sort of format, with some customization and ordering options, no middle man, I think it would be a huge sucess.

Carvin proper is dead....stick a fork in it...out of business....

The K guitars are/were seperate for a while...

Damn shame as Carvin built some great amps and stuff over the years....

This isn't Gibson's first rodeo with auto theme paint jobs. The Les Paul GT is the predecessor to these guys and par the course people were appalled by the flame paint, colors, and all the Gold Top guys were freaking over the "GT" designation. Of course the GT had upgraded this-and-that's (google it), which made it a better guitar IMHO, but visually it still freaked out the traditionalist. Funny thing is years later I found one of the black GT's used for cheap and had to have it. It hangs right next to my traditional finished Lesters, and gets played about as much.

I have never understood why anyone would want to cover the grain of the maple tops. I can understand if the wood was crap or maybe a multi piece top... when I was young I always assumed GT's and Customs had inferior tops, and therefore they were painted to cover crappy wood. So when peops started converting GT's to plain tops I was amazed at the quality of wood underneath the finish....

Covering that wood with paint to me is like painting a violin.... so these new paint schemes just tell me Gibson has so lost the plot, new ownership is needed irrespective of the financial issues.

but that is just my opinion.....

Oh, I dunno, that one with the...

I can't do it. I tried. If I have to say a variation of, "It's not bad for what it is!", then it's not something I should buy. More power to anyone who likes them, but not my thing.

    And I liked you! Pffft.
    Carvin praise? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

As long as they keep the classics coming and keep the quality good, they can put out whatever other model they want, if there's a limited number, it might take a few years but someone's gonna like 'em and buy 'em sooner or later.
