I actually kind of like these things. The paint scheme is distinctively 70's, which was a great decade for rock guitar in general and the Les Paul in particular. Plus you get a long tenon neck with a volute, so maybe the headstock won't snap off if you lay it down too hard.

Rock and Roll was about giving the youth their own identity, wasn't it?

"Listen up Oldsters, we don't need your approval anymore!".

When I first started playing gigs with an LP, they weren't popular, you just didnt see bands playing LPs (at least in the UK) - it was all pointy guitars and I hated them and the stale scene they represented. An old fashioned LP was saying FU - so important, really it is. If you're not saying FU and doing things your way, then as an original artist, what are you for?

These days, with an LP, I'm a clone.

If I had money spare, I'd buy the Superman one in a heartbeat. Maybe the German flag one too.

    Circling the drain....

When one stops to consider what $5k gets you from any one of the super-talented custom builders we have today (e.g. Walsh Guitars, Motor Ave, etc), these guitars seem like even more of a sad, sad mistake.

Street Race for $899 and I'd at least pull it off the wall to play it and see how it sounds.

Oh FFS. I thought the pic was a joke.

I give up. You guys crying Gibson's doom must be right. I was poo-pooing all the "ahhhhhh Gibson is crashing and burning and it's all HJ's fault" talk and was thinking that while things looked bad, it wasn't a suicidal death spiral, just a painful come-to-jesus process for Gibby's management team and the company would get things sorted and move forward.
I believe I was wrong. Things at Gibson aren't going to change until there is a new management team in place. What I though was Chicken Little peeping about the sky falling is probably Nostradamus predicting the Fire of London.

I can't wait for the Dallas and Dukes of Hazard finishes...

...actually a Dukes of Hazard finish wouldn't be bad, but not for $5K...

    The Dukes: orange with...
Oh. Right. Whole political can of worms that I so won't be opening here.
But it does have a pull-push on the neck tone that automatically plays the first coupla bars of Dixie. High gain, obviously.

Well, Gib is a bit late to the paint party...

Hamer made varied 'flags' some decades back. I think Dean made some flags too...
(In the early, REAL Hamer and Dean years)...

If they want to paint, then bring back the Skrat with a hockey stick head and go buck wild...

Do SGs and slab Lesters with smaller plain heads....but don't cheapen the big dogs with dumbass paint...

    No Starski & Hutch colors?

Dukes of Hazard, Knightrider, Love Bug, Magnum PI should be next.
