I started on acoustic guitar because the electric I had money on at the store was stolen before I could finish paying for it.:wtf: They did not have any electrics after the breakin, so.......
So I went with acoustic guitar and song for my first one.

I learned the usual Cowboy chords ( Yeah Mel Bay )and could change them competently, so learning a song with chords in it motivated me to get it right.

My first song stars our hallowed open "D" chord,
"Here Comes The Sun" By the Beatles.

I learned about capos that day as well:thumb:

Then I started doing "I Feel Fine" Riffs and needed an electric and a fuzz quickly:rofl:

All that was back in 1975...

Anyone else care to tell of their first song?

Incidentally....most really talented guitarists I know couldn't play 4 measures on the drums to save their lives. But I bet 70% of you could pick up anything by AC/DC and play it in under 15 minutes. Good music, but painfully easy.

Yeah, I learned the entire first Boston album on my electric and acoustic guitars. Made me get into the reel to reel recording thing as well.
My second instrument was cornet. First song there was Mary had a little lamb ( Of course:) ), then onto Macarthur Park:rofl:
I no longer play but still love Arturo Sandoval and Al Hirt.

    You still a drummer?

I still play from time to time for fun. I don't own a set anymore, even though I have room for it. I know probably 4 other guitarists who own drumsets, so I play there once in awhile. Both acoustic and electronic. The electronics take up less space and are a little more neighbor-friendly, but nothing like the real thing.

Late 80's. First song I learned was Wanted Dead or Alive.

When I started playing again recently, I think it was probably Highway to Hell (stepson is a huge AC/DC fan, and he and I were in group lessons together), followed by What You Give by Tesla, and then Mama I'm Coming Home (minus the solo).

TNT. Barely had a grasp on power chords, was washing my car listening to it and it just clicked, ran into the house and grabbed my Lotus Strat. Drove everyone crazy with it for weeks!

Although I've said this before it was House of the Rising Sun, but hell I got my first guitar in 1966. It's hard for me to remember that far back, I know I learned some Beatles tunes back then too. :)
