No. His name is Mike. I wouldnt be able to call him Wowsers with a straight face
Yeah I really like it, seems fitting its for my cousin who served in the army in Afghanistan
Should be done with twin thinline teles on the weekend. I had to cut the wires at the pot and jack to feed the wires through the channels.
Also need to plant a couple of string trees, string the guitar up and set it up.
Pretty happy with these two even though I had a few problems.
The tops are from the same piece of wood as is the backs, I'm not entirely sure about the middle part of them.
back at the Firebird V build - white limba with walnut skunk stripe, and matching scarf joint, neck through with black limba (or walnut) wings, still TBD.
I bought a V bit with the vintage correct angle for the notched body wing connection. Crazy design but it should make gluing the wings pretty simple.
Double Strat build continues...
Another good use for Z-poxy. Gluing in carbon fiber rods
Looks nice Chris. I gotta do some Strat and /or Tele necks. They look like they would be well suited for CNC, that's for sure.
Won't the carbon fiber rods also resist the corrective action of the truss rod?
Never been an issue. They will flex. I do find the guitars I build much less suseptible to changes in temp and humidity. Once I have the relief where I want it I've never had to touch it again.
They feel a bit stiffer when adjusting the truss rod, but nothing approaching hard. Once done they stay put
That's been my experience as well. I use carbon reinforcement for my 7 and 8 string necks, once you get them dialed in they're rock steady.
Getting the finish close to where I want it with my double cut build. Finish is brush on lacquer thinned 50/50, and colored with Amber Color Tint...then sprayed on with a Preval sprayer. I just wish I my technique was a little better...but it's a learning process.

Talking about finally doing an LP-esque thing over in another thread got me thinking, so I decided to go ahead and finalize the design for Knightro Senior. Should go something like this:
Anyone know where I can get some ivoroid pickup rings? I prefer that material over cream or white, but haven't had any luck finding them on the webs.
Headstock "feels" a touch narrow, but thats just one guys opinion.
Love the lower horn shape and the body curves flow nicely
Always a challenge to get that string pull as straight as possible and still wind up with a shape that feels right.
I compensated my 22 Special headstock a little bit so that the D and G strings do have a very slight angle and it allowed me to keep a bit more width
I like it!
Oh, you know, another day, another fretboard glue up:
You telling me you couldnt have fit another clamp or two on that?
I probably could have. It was only 28, well short of my personal best, but I thought this was probably enough for the time being . When I build the 5 string multi scale bass I just finished design work on, I will need to get more clamps. That thing ought to allow me to squeeze near 50 on it
Ash body, pau ferro neck and fretboard. This one is getting a new prototype wind from my buddy at Elysian Pickups, should be a fun little shred machine.
Just a little mockup of my Supernova build. I'll be using a different bridge and different knobs, but these are what I had on hand.
